Sony PS5 system software has been updated, M.2 SSD expansion support to 8TB. Sabrent for PS5 launched 8TB SSD Rocket 4 Plus has now begun to ship, priced at $1,010 (currently about RMB 7,373).

According to reports, Sabrent’s Rocket 4 Plus 8 TB is based on the Swarm master and delivers up to 7,100 MB/s sequential write speeds and up to 6,000 MB/s sequential write speeds. In order to efficiently dissipate heat under high loads, the SSD is equipped with a PS5-compatible aluminium heat sink.

Sabrent’s Rocket 4 Plus 8TB SSD is not currently available on domestic e-commerce platforms.

The Corsair MP600 PRO NH SSD on sale at Jingdong is priced at RMB 7,499, with a read speed of up to 7,000 MB/s.

The early PCIe 5.0 SSDs on the market are basically reading at 10,000MB/s, and recently 12,000MB/s models have started to hit the market. Soon, a mature model with 14GB/s will also be available.

According to TechPowerUp, the Sabrent Rocket X5 PCIe 5.0 SSD is currently measured at 14GB/s.

As shown above, the Sabrent Rocket X5 is a typical heatpipe + fan-cooled PCIe 5.0 SSD with read speeds of 14,179 MB/s, write speeds of 12,280 MB/s, and 4K single-threaded read speeds of 106 MB/s and write speeds of 448 MB/s.

According to the report, the SSD still uses the Qunar E26 controller, and the flash memory is Micron’s 232-layer B58R NAND, and the 14GB/s speed is probably due to the use of the latest firmware.

The latest 12,400 MB/s PCIe 5.0 SSDs from Shadowrun and Ingenuity are already available, with Shadowrun 2TB at 2599 and Ingenuity 2TB at 2699.

Sabrent has released a new USB-C docking station, model DS-UNHC, which supports the installation of an M.2 SSD and a 3.5-inch HDD.

As shown above, the USB-C docking station can vertically insert an M.2 SSD and a 3.5-inch mechanical hard drive, with the M.2 SSD socket having a heat sink. Both drives support offline cloning. The USB-C docking station features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface with 10Gbps speed.

Sabrent released a Rocket M.2 2230 solid-state drive at the end of last year with an optional 1TB capacity for Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface and some Superbook upgrades. Now the SSD is available on Amazon for $160 for 1TB (currently about RMB1075).

The Sabrent Rocket 2230 features a single-sided design and is equipped with Qunar’s new E21T SSD host and Micron’s 176-layer TLC NAND with PCIe 4.0 interface and up to 5GB/s.

In terms of capacity, the Sabrent Rocket 2230 SSD is available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB models, with TBW of 200TB, 300TB and 600TB respectively.

According to official data, the Sabrent Rocket 2230 SSD has sequential read and writes speeds of 4,650 MB/s and 1,900 MB/s for the 256GB model, 5,000 MB/s and 3,700 MB/s for the 512GB model, and 4,750 MB/s and 4,300 MB/s for the 1TB version, respectively. The 256GB SSD has 220,000 IOPS read and 470,000 IOPS write speeds, while the 512GB SSD has 440,000 IOPS and 920,000 IOPS respectively; the 1TB version has 450,000 IOPS and 545,000 IOPS respectively.
