Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows 8.1, and Win7 has ended support on January 14, 2020.

Rockstar has now updated its support announcement to announce that the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported Rockstar games will no longer support the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.

In order to prevent future service outages and continue to use new features, Rockstar recommends users of the above systems upgrade to a supported operating system as soon as possible.

Microsoft issued an announcement announcing the closure of free upgrade channels from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 11 and 10. In other words, it is no longer possible to upgrade the genuine Win11 system from Win7 and Win8 for free.

In fact, most games have begun to gradually abandon old system support. For example, “League of Legends” no longer supports 32-bit Windows operating systems on April 4 (version 13.7).

After confirming that hackers stole the source code for GTA6 from R-Star, there are now reports that hackers have sold the source code for GTA5. A large amount of video footage of the in-development GTA6 was recently leaked and the source of the video and information announced that they have no plans to sell the source code for Grand Theft Auto 6, but they do have the source code for GTA5 and are willing to sell it.

The leaker calling himself Tea Pot told his followers on the GTAFroums website that “all source code and assets for GTA5 are available. Also the files for GTA6. Please private message me”, he went on to add: “Offers need to be no less than 5 figures.”

In a follow-up report, Twitter user and RockstarINTEL reporter videotech_ shared a transaction showing that a sum of bitcoin equivalent to $100,000 had recently been sent to an unknown wallet. videotech_ claimed the transaction was “evidence that someone paid $100,000 for GTA5 It is unclear how videotech_ knew the transaction was related to the source code for GTA5. It is also worth noting that videotech_ has set their Twitter page to private mode.

Tea Pot was then contacted to ask if he had sold the source code for GTA5 for $100,000, but he denied it. In a private letter, Tea Pot said, “No, that’s not in my wallet.” In other words, Tea Pot said that the deal mentioned by videotech_ had nothing to do with him. And according to Tom Henderson’s sources, Tea Pot has confirmed that the transaction did not pass through his wallet.

If the source code for GTA5 were to be shared publicly or fall into the wrong hands, it could have dire consequences for RStar and its parent company Take Two. The source code would leave GTA Online and its users open to more and more hacks, not to mention leaving R-Star itself more vulnerable to further attacks. And as for the source code for GTA 6, the hackers say they are waiting for a response from RockStar.

Bloomberg Jason Schreier tweeted that they have asked R-Star to confirm that the GTA6 leak this week is real and that the video is footage from R-Star’s early production that has yet to be completed.
