AMD launched a new data indicator called System Lag in the latest preview driver.

Simply put, this is a metric specifically designed to measure the delay between frames generated by the game engine and frames rendered by the graphics card, similar to NVIDIA’s PC Latency (PCL).

It is worth mentioning that this feature is only available for graphics cards that support Anti-Lag +, which currently only includes Radeon RX 7000 series and RDNA3 core graphics.

With this feature, users can gain a deeper understanding of how AMD Anti-Lag+ can enhance their gaming experience, and this technology will be launched simultaneously with FSR3.

AMD said that with Radeon Anti-Lag+ technology, games can achieve application frame alignment from the code layer, resulting in better frame synchronization, lower latency and a better gaming experience.

▲ NVIDIA’s explanation of system latency

Note: AMD’s Anti-Lag+ is only available for some games, and these games must use the DirectX12 API to implement the system delay function to display data. Games supported by AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ include:

 Apex Legends

 Overwatch 2

 dying light 2

 Shadow of the Tomb Raider

 Rise of the Tomb Raider

 Resident Evil 4

 Ghost Line: Tokyo

 fortnite

The Last of Us: Part 1

 Star Wars Jedi: Survivors

 Resident Evil 3

For players who want to buy 4090, under the high price, they will choose more carefully after some fires come out, but AMD is not panic at all. Netizens have posted pictures one after another showing that the 12-pin hole at the bottom of the RTX 4090 power interface is seriously damaged, and the 4-pin above is relatively good. The player said that his adapter cable has a quality problem and is seeking a replacement from the manufacturer.

Judging from the damage to the power interface of the graphics card, the main problem of this fire seems to be the 12 pins below. However, it can be found through the power supply cable that the user is using an adapter cable with the NVIDIA logo, but it is still severely burned.

The upcoming AMD’s new flagship graphics card will not have the above problem. According to Angstronomics, AMD’s new Navi 3X GPU-based graphics card will still use dual 8pin power connectors.

Before that, VideoCardz also broke the news that the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards that AMD will release will not use the 16pin power supply interface (12VHPWR) on the RTX 40 series.

The whistleblower Kyle Bennett also emphasized that the RX 7000 series of public graphics cards or non-public versions will not use the 16pin power supply interface.

Judging from the information previously exposed, the RX 7000 series public graphics cards use a 5nm process, which is 50% higher than RDNA 2 in performance per watt, with a three-fan design, similar to the RX 6950XT, a computing unit with a new architecture, and more.

In order to facilitate the reference of PC DIY players, many power supply manufacturers provide simple computer component power consumption calculators on their official websites. However, recently, sharp-eyed people have discovered that Enermax has just updated its web list and exposed several NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 and AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics card models that have not yet been officially released.

Screenshot (via @Momomo_us)

According to a screenshot shared by @Momomo_us on Twitter, Enermax lists Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 / 4070, and AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT / 7800 XT / 7900 XT / 7950 XT and other graphics card models.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen OEMs expose new NVIDIA/AMD GPUs. For example, at an event in Poland some time ago, TCL listed AMD’s Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card, and other power supply manufacturers’ websites also listed RTX 40 series GPUs.

Usually, power supply manufacturers get information about new products earlier, especially high-end GPUs that are indispensable to modern gaming PCs. Although it may only be speculative data, Animei’s power consumption calculator is still helpful for consumers to choose the appropriate power supply model.

While Nvidia has released flagship and high-end positioned RTX 4090 24GB and RTX 4080 12/16GB graphics cards, the company has yet to disclose mainstream RTX 4060/4070 derivatives (expected to launch in the first half of 2023).

Even so, Enermax was the first to reveal the two new RTX 40 cards, as well as four AMD RNDA 3 graphics cards – including the Radeon RX 7950 XT, RX 7900 XT, RX 7800 XT, and RX 7700 XT.

The following is the recommended power supply for each graphics card using the AMD Ryzen R9-7950X processor as the reference platform:

"● NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090(733W)

● NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080(600W)

● NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070(565W)

● NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060(478W)

● AMD Radeon RX 7950 XT(702W)

● AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT(610W)

● AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT(580W)

● AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT(478W)"

Judging from the data provided by Enermax’s official website list, the power consumption of the RX 7950 XT is 31W lower than that of the RTX 4090, but the RX 7900 XT is 10W higher than the RTX 4080 (it is unclear whether it is the 12GB or 16GB memory version).

In addition, the power consumption of the RX 7700 XT is 87W lower than that of the RTX 4070, while the power consumption of the RTX 4060 is comparable to that of the RX 7700 XT. As for the truth, please wait patiently for the AMD RDNA 3 “Radeon RX 7000” graphics card to launch on November 3.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, @_rogame revealed PCI-IDs for potential AMD RDNA 3 “Navi 3x” GPUs, speculating that there will be at least 8 SKUs for the next generation Radeon RX / Radeon Pro product line. AMD has previously teased a launch event for the Radeon RX 7000 series of gaming graphics cards on November 3, but @_rogame also pointed out mobile and workstation (Radeon Pro) derivatives in addition to desktop graphics cards.

Although this is the first time we’ve heard of this, it’s likely that more RDNA 3 GPU models will be included when AMD officially releases it.

The current known Navi 3x lineup is:

"● Navi 31:0x7440 -> 0x745F

● Navi 32:0x7460 -> 0x747F

● Navi 33:0x7480 -> 0x749F"

However, the Navi 33 GPU alone covers six specific PCI IDs:

"● 0x7480

● 0x7481

● 0x7483

● 0x748B

● 0x7489

● 0x749F"

@_rogame adds that tabletop gaming SKUs typically occupy the last IDs of the AMD GPU lineup, so hopefully some of the above will end up in the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics lineup.

Unofficial rendering (via @Technetium_Tech)

WCCFTech notes that six (or even more PCI IDs) for entry-level GPUs like the Navi 33 are quite meaningful. If it is subdivided into Radeon desktop / mobile / professional three lines, the market will also usher in 18 graphics cards of various grades.

By comparison, the higher-end Navi 3x GPU models can be more refined. As for the truth, please wait patiently for AMD’s official announcement on November 3.

The key features of the Radeon RX 7000 series RDNA 3 GPUs are as follows:

"
● Adopt 5nm process node

● Advanced small chip packaging process

● Redesigned Compute Unit (CU) architecture

● Optimized graphics pipeline

● Next-generation AMD Infinity Cache

● Enhanced Ray Tracing performance

● Sophisticated adaptive power management features

● >50% Perf/Watt vs RDNA 2"

At the end of the earlier Zen 4 Radeon 7000 series AM5 desktop processor launch, AMD revealed a glimpse of the next-generation Radeon RX 7000 series RDNA 3 graphics card. But for those who don’t want to wait until November 3rd to reveal the mystery, you can now also check out a set of renders produced by Technetium to quench your thirst. Last month, Technetium also shared renders of the Zen 4 Raider 7000 series CPUs. The new renderings of the RX 7000 series graphics card cooler also impressed us.

Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards to use Navi 3x GPU cores (via WCCFTech)

Similar to the images revealed at the end of the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU launch, this new set of renders of the public version of the Radeon RX 7900 XT shared by @Technetium_Tech looks quite stunning.

However, compared to the RDNA 2 Card King RX 6950 XT, the rendered RX 7900 XT has slightly thicker thermal armor.

In addition to the thick heatsink with three slots and three fans, the three sets of 8-pin auxiliary power connectors located in the upper right corner also look quite exaggerated.

As for the exterior decoration, the fan cover in the middle has two LED strips, while the side is painted with a signature “Radeon Red” line.

In fact, not long ago, Angstornomics also shared a design with dual 8-pin auxiliary power supplies, but it is unclear whether it reflects the same Radeon RX 7000 series graphics card models.

Incidentally, prior to NVIDIA’s GTC 2022 keynote, AMD’s Senior Director of Gaming Marketing Sasa Marinkovic teased the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, which was released a few days ago – “Bigger doesn’t always mean better”.

Finally, even though it is very close, the authenticity of this set of unofficial renders is still to be revealed by AMD when it is officially released on November 3.

NVIDIA released the RTX 4090/4080 series graphics cards. The performance of the new cards is very good and powerful. It claims to have twice the performance of the RTX 3090 Ti. However, the heat dissipation design of the graphics cards is also very exaggerated, close to the thickness of 4 slots, and the weight is not low. The non-public version of the manufacturer can reach 5 pounds. AMD has not released a new card yet. The RX 7000 series will be released on November 3, plus the launch time, it is estimated that it will be about 2 months later than the RTX 40 series.

The RX 7000 series graphics cards will upgrade the RDNA3 architecture, using TSMC’s 5nm process, and this time it will use a small chip design for the first time, consisting of a GCD computing core and an MCD storage core.

Can the RX 7000 graphics card beat NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 graphics card? There is no actual measurement now, but AMD has reiterated the architectural advantages of the RX 7000 graphics card. Its energy efficiency is 50% higher than the current 7nm RDNA2, which can bring cool, quiet, and energy-saving first-class game performance to gamers.

AMD also highlighted two new technologies of RDNA3, one is adaptive power management, which can ensure that the GPU achieves the best performance with only the right amount of power consumption and no waste, and the other is the newly designed Infinity Cache infinite cache with higher density Well, the power consumption is lower, which can reduce the power requirements of the memory system.

In short, judging from AMD’s statement, the focus of the RX 7000 series graphics cards this time is on energy efficiency. It is hard to say whether the performance can overturn the RTX 4090, but if the energy efficiency is greatly improved, the power consumption will be pleasantly surprising. Maybe there is really a miracle of more than 300 watts of power consumption to kill the 450-watt power consumption of friends.

Well-known hardware whistleblower HXL (@9550pro) just revealed on Twitter that the next-generation RDNA 3 GPU used in the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards can reach clock rates close to 4 GHz. In addition, this generation of gaming graphics cards is said to have improved “Infinity Cache” and “Adaptive Power-Management” features.

Looking back at history, WCCFTech noted that the red team was the first to break the 1 GHz GPU clock rate – it is 28nm Tahiti GPU was used on a Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition graphics card in 2012/GCN architecture.

Then on the Radeon RX 6000 series RDNA 2 GPU line, it hit the 3.0 GHz threshold again. Now, thanks to TSMC’s 5mn process node, AMD GPUs are apparently aiming for a new milestone of 4 GHz.

In the CPU field, the company has demonstrated a Zen 4 processor core with a significantly increased frequency with the help of TSMC’s 5nm process node. It’s no surprise to us as red teams apply their experience to other IP lineups such as RDNA GPUs.

Secondly, AMD senior vice president and technical architect Sam Naffziger emphasized that both the Radeon RX 7000 independent display and the next-generation RDNA 3 core display will usher in a series of new features, including more refined adaptive power management technology.

This setting can be specific to a specific scenario, ensuring that the GPU only consumes the power required by the corresponding workload. In addition, the updated “Infinity Cache” (Infinity Cache) provides higher density and significantly reduces memory power consumption.

The key features of the Radeon RX 7000 Series RDNA 3 GPUs are as follows.

● Use 5nm process node

● Advanced small chip packaging process

● Reserting the calculation unit (CU) architecture

● Optimized graphical pipeline

● New generation AMD unlimited cache (Infinity Cache)

● Enhanced Ray Traction performance

● Fine adaptive power management characteristics

●> 50% Perf/Watt VS RDNA 2

Finally, the line-up of AMD Radeon RX 7000 series solo displays based on the Nav 3x GPUs is expected to launch later this year – starting with the Navi 31 product line before the Navi 32 / Navi 33 SKUs.
