Today in Singapore, Porsche’s new pure electric Macan was officially unveiled. As Porsche’s second pure electric model and first pure electric SUV, the release of this car heralds Porsche’s official entry into the pure electric SUV field. Two models were released this time, namely Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. Both cars are equipped with 100kWh batteries and dual-motor four-wheel drive systems. The torque of Turbo reaches 1130N·m.

At the same time as the new car was released, Porsche also announced that it will open deposit pre-sales in the Chinese market today and will announce the price at the Beijing Auto Show that opens in April. However, since domestic 3C certification will take some time, it may not arrive until the fourth quarter of this year. in the hands of domestic consumers. Customers who prepay the deposit and sign the car purchase contract before May 31 will enjoy the “early bird exclusive” rights for a limited time, covering priority delivery, legendary/dream/shadow body color and other benefits.

The overall large lines of the new car’s appearance are not much different from the current fuel version. The biggest highlight of the front face is the split headlight design. The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo models we saw this time have some differences in the details of the light groups. The Macan 4 daytime running lights and turn signals share a light strip, while the Turbo model is layered up and down. Look carefully for more details. The bulging lines on the front hatch extending from the daytime running lights add to the car’s muscular feel and make it more sporty.

The length, width and height of the vehicle are 4784/1938/1622mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2893mm. Since it is freed from the shackles of the internal combustion engine, the front trunk volume is 84L, the Macan 4 trunk volume is 540-1348L, and the Turbo model has a volume of 480-1288L due to the sound system occupying some trunk space. As a performance-oriented Turbo model, compared with the entry-level model, the front and rear surrounds and details are more distinctive. All details of the vehicle have been darkened, even the Porsche shield logo on the front cover and the Porsche English on the rear have been darkened.

The biggest change to the rear is that the original fixed spoiler extending from the roof of the fuel version is “hidden” under the rear windshield, and this time it is changed to an electrically adjustable rear spoiler. The lighting effect of the through-type taillight is very good, and the rear camera and electric trunk button are integrated inside.

In the interior, the T-shaped area of the center console is more “Taycan”-like, and the triple screen design highlights the sense of technology and luxury. However, we see that the co-pilot screen is not optional on the Macan 4 model, and this is likely to be an optional feature in the future. The overall shape is still driver-centered, the gear lever has been moved to the right side of the steering wheel, and the one-button start button is still on the left side of the steering wheel based on Porsche tradition. The vehicle is equipped with a PCM equipped with Android Automotive OS in-vehicle operating system, and a Porsche Application Center that can download third-party applications (Porsche will make localized App download options for domestic models in the future). Supports CarPlay and Android system mobile phone mapping. The My Porsche app allows remote control of charging and on-board functions.

In terms of power, the pure electric Macan will use the latest generation permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM). Its maximum power will reach Macan 4 300kW/Macan Turbo 470kW, and its maximum torque is 650N·m and 1130N·m respectively. In order to improve efficiency, silicon carbide is used as a semiconductor material in the rear-axle pulse inverter (PWR). This greatly reduces the conversion losses of the pulse inverter and enables higher conversion frequencies. The lithium-ion battery equipped with the new car has a total capacity of 100kWh and is divided into 12 modules with a total of 180 square cells. The ratio of nickel, cobalt and manganese is 8:1:1. In terms of 0-100km/h acceleration, the Macan 4 is 5.2 seconds, compared to 3.3 seconds for the Macan Turbo.

Thanks to the 800V technical architecture, the maximum charging power of the Macan can reach 270kW. If the charging pile can only use 400V technology, the pure electric Macan will activate the “combined charging” function to speed up the charging process. The “combined charging” function effectively divides the 800V battery into two batteries, each with a rated voltage of 400V, which can be charged in parallel at a 400V charging station, charging from 10% to 80% in as fast as 21 minutes. In terms of battery life, the Macan 4’s comprehensive range (WLTP) is 613km, and the Macan Turbo’s is 591km.

● Summary:

Compared with other models in the Porsche family tree, the Macan can be considered a young junior. The Porsche Macan was officially launched in 2014. This SUV model that incorporates Porsche sports car genes has attracted much attention since its launch and has achieved very good sales around the world. The 2.0T/3.0T models have created a legend belonging to Porsche with excellent sales results worldwide. Later, after three iterative upgrades in 2018/2021/2023, this “Little Tiger” became more in line with the usage habits of consumers in various countries, and also further explained Porsche’s understanding and interpretation of sports SUVs. To this day, under the global electrification trend, the new pure electric Macan has been officially launched. The Macan has been around for a full ten years. After ten years of electrification transformation, we will wait and see what sales performance will be in the future.

Porsche announced the interior design of the new Macan EV pure electric SUV. The new car interior draws on the Taycan’s driver experience control concept, combining physical buttons and touch screen operations.

The interior of the Macan EV is mainly composed of three screens:

The 12.6-inch driver instrument panel supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has built-in navigation.

10.9-inch central touchscreen equipped with the latest Porsche technology.

The optional 10.9-inch front passenger display can control entertainment and navigation settings, browse media or play videos.

It is worth mentioning that the new car will also be equipped with a head-up display that supports augmented reality technology, which can virtually superimpose navigation arrows, driver assistance system warnings and other information on the road.

Just like Tesla, the new car can play racing games while charging. But unlike Tesla, it doesn’t use a steering wheel to control the virtual car.

The Macan EV will share its PPE architecture with the similarly sized Audi Q6 E-tron, scheduled for delivery in 2024. The car was initially planned for launch in 2023 but was delayed due to development difficulties at Cariad, the Volkswagen Group’s software arm.

The SUV’s appearance is slightly different from the petrol version it will be sold alongside, with the main change being a more angular design that replaces the current Macan’s more boxy design. This also gives the headlights a sharper shape, with the daytime running lights at the front replaced by two sets of twin round lights.

The new car will be equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a total power of up to 603 horsepower and a peak torque of more than 738lb ft. The body has a weight distribution of 48 percent front to rear and 52 percent, and features wider rear wheels and a performance rear axle for enhanced roadholding and handling.

The new car will also be equipped for the first time with Porsche’s two-stage dampers, which can independently adjust the suspension softness and hardness according to the driving mode and road conditions, thereby improving ride comfort. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with a rear-wheel steering system to further enhance handling flexibility.

In terms of battery life, the Macan EV will be equipped with a 100kWh lithium-ion battery pack, using an 800V architecture and supporting a charging power of up to more than 270kW. Although Porsche has not given an official cruising range, it is expected to be comparable to the Taycan’s 314 miles (Note: approximately 505.33 kilometers).

The Macan EV is an important model in Porsche’s electrification offensive in the coming years, and will be followed by the 718 Boxster EV (2025), Cayenne EV (2025) and Panamera EV (2026). Porsche aims to have electric vehicles make up 50% of its global sales by 2025 and 80% by 2030.

Recently, the 2 millionth vehicle of Porsche Leipzig factory officially rolled off the production line. What rolled off the production line was a brand new Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. The Porsche Leipzig factory was officially put into production on August 20, 2002 and has a history of 21 years. The models it produces include classic models such as Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and super sports car Carrera GT.

“Carrera GT”

“Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid”

The new Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid model that rolled off the production line this time was previously released on November 24 and will be launched in China in the future. The headlight outline of the new car has become sharper, and the internal light group structure has also been adjusted to look more technological. The lower bumper has been given a new look, and a slender air inlet has been added above the license plate, visually forming a big mouth. Silver “fangs” have also grown on both sides of the front of the car, making the entire front of the car look more fierce. .

There really aren’t many changes on the side, except for the slight adjustments made to the rear small window line and side skirt shape. The rear also retains a large number of classic design elements from the second-generation model, including a three-section unfolded or hidden electric tail wing, a window-style through-taillight with a brand logo, all of which are highly recognizable. However, compared to the rounder and smoother surface treatment of the second generation, the rear surface of the third generation car is more complex and has more diverse levels.

Looking at the interior, the new car adopts Porsche’s latest family-style design style, using a 12.6-inch full LCD curved screen instrument with a suspended design, but the interior still continues the classic 5-link dial design. The multi-function steering wheel integrates a large number of physical buttons for easy operation, reflecting the driver-centered brand concept. The center console area is still the familiar Porsche style, and the electronic gear lever has been transplanted next to the center control screen. In addition, the new car is also equipped with through-type ambient lighting for the first time, and the storage space has also been increased.

In terms of power, the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is equipped with a hybrid system composed of a 4.0T V8 + 140 kW P2 motor. The total system power can reach 680 horsepower (500 kilowatts). The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Porsche has completely integrated the motor and gearbox, thereby achieving a weight optimization of about 5 kilograms. In addition, the battery capacity has been increased to 25.9kWh, and the WLTP standard pure electric range has been further extended to more than 90 kilometers.

According to foreign media Motor 1, Porsche’s new pure electric car Macan EV finally debuted on August 2 in an undisguised form. The new car is still in the road test stage. Compared with the models photographed in the past, this time the Macan EV finally tore off the camouflage stickers on the headlights, rear triangle window, etc.

▲ Picture source Motor1, the same below

In terms of appearance, the new car uses almost the same headlights as the Porsche Taycan, and is equipped with a trapezoidal large-size bumper. The entire front face shape is quite different from the fuel version of the Macan. The side profile of the car is still similar to the fuel version of the Macan, with a very sporty fastback body.

As for the rear, the new car adopts a design similar to the through-type taillights, and a part of the sticker is covered in the area under the headlights. In the previous spy photos of the same model, there was a fake exhaust pipe under the bumper of the car, which also disappeared in this appearance.

According to previous spy photos taken by foreign media carbuzz, the new car is expected to be equipped with an active rear wing to optimize aerodynamic performance.

It was previously reported that Porsche released a notice in late June, in which the side profile of the car was indirectly announced in the picture. Before this, this car has been exposed in the form of partial camouflage.

The new car is expected to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and be launched in the first half of 2024. The Macan EV is developed based on Volkswagen’s latest PPE pure electric platform, supports 800V high-voltage charging, will be equipped with the latest generation of permanent magnet synchronous motors, and will provide two models with single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. Among them, the dual-motor four-wheel drive model will provide a maximum power of 450kW (603 horsepower) and is expected to be equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 100kWh.

According to Bloomberg News, Porsche said on Wednesday that it is considering building an electric vehicle battery factory in an area close to Germany, the United States and Canada, with a power generation capacity of up to 20GWh. To this end, Porsche is negotiating with potential financial and strategic partners, and the cost of the factory is expected to be as high as 3.3 billion US dollars.

Porsche noted on Wednesday that supply chain problems would persist in the second half of the year. Currently, the company is under pressure to accelerate its electrification transformation, and the launch of several major electric vehicles, including the pure electric Macan, has had to be delayed due to software failures. Meanwhile, deliveries of the Taycan, Porsche’s only all-electric model, fell 5 percent in the first half due to parts shortages.

Porsche CEO Obermo said in this regard that since most vehicles are produced in Germany, it may be reasonable to increase battery production capacity near Germany. At the same time, the simple application process and provisions of the Inflation Cut Act made the United States increasingly attractive to Porsche.

Currently, Porsche owns Cellforce, a joint venture researching high-performance batteries, and has invested in a 1.3 GWh factory in southwestern Germany.

It was previously reported that on Wednesday night local time, Xpeng Motors and Volkswagen reached a strategic cooperation. The two parties will jointly develop two B-class pure electric models and sell them in China as the Volkswagen brand. It should be noted that Volkswagen is the parent company of Porsche, but Porsche holds the most stock in Volkswagen.

According to the British car magazine “AutoCar” reported that the British luxury car brand Bentley the first pure electric car will be equipped with self-driving technology.

Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark has revealed that the car will use Mobileye’s SuperVision system, which consists of 11 cameras and will also be used in Porsche’s upcoming Macan EV. The car will initially be able to be partially driverless on the freeway and is expected to be fully autonomous in the future through OTA software updates to enable fully autonomous driving.

Bentley’s first electric car is reportedly expected to debut in 2025 and could be a sporty coupe rather than the previously rumored high-riding sedan or crossover. Hallmark revealed last year that the electric car would have a power output of up to 1,400 horsepower and be able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 1.5 seconds (note: about 96 km/h), a performance figure that seems unlikely for a crossover. However, Hallmark also said that Bentley will also launch a “slower” version to satisfy customers who feel it’s too fast.

Bentley will introduce a new electric car every year from 2025 to 2030. The company will also invest $3 billion in a complete overhaul of its Crewe plant to accommodate the demands of the electric age.

Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce, another leading British luxury automaker, will also launch its first electric car this fall. The electric car called Spectre is a luxury coupe based on the same platform as the Phantom and Cullinan.
