Qualcomm this morning officially announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, OPPO announced that the new generation of Find X flagship will be the first to be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

OPPO said it will equip the next-generation Find X flagship with the new second-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship mobile platform, bringing a leap forward in imaging, gaming performance and connectivity to provide a superior mobile experience for users worldwide.

For this cooperation, Liu Zuohu, chief product officer of OPPO and founder of OnePlus, said, relying on OPPO’s long-term technology accumulation in the field of graphics processing and AI, as well as the powerful performance brought by the second-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship mobile platform, OPPO and Qualcomm Technologies have successfully broken through the ray tracing technology and Google Cloud Vertex AI NAS technology in the cell phone. The company has also been working with Qualcomm Technologies to break through the application of light tracking technology and Google Cloud Vertex AI NAS technology in mobile phones.

Snapdragon 8 Gen2 uses a 4nm process with one Cortex-X3-based Kryo super core at 3.2GHz, four performance cores (2 x Cortex A715 + 2 x Cortex A710, both at 2.8GHz), and three Cortex-A510 energy efficiency cores (small cores at 2.0GHz). Compared with Snapdragon 8, the final CPU performance is 35% higher and power consumption is 40% lower. New Adreno GPU with 25% better performance and 45% less power consumption, Vulkan 1.3 support, and hardware-level ray tracing support.

Snapdragon 8 Gen2 integrates a new Hexagon processor with a significantly enhanced tensor unit and a claimed 4.35x performance increase in some scenarios. Featuring X70 5G baseband and the new FastConnect 7800 unit, it supports 5G dual SIM dual pass (up to 10Gbps downlink), Wi-Fi 7 (up to 5.8Gbps, twice the Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth LE audio, 48kHz lossless audio, spatial audio and more.

In addition, the new perception ISP (triple 18bit) supports the latest CMOS from Samsung and Sony with up to 200 megapixels in a single unit, supporting up to 8K 30P or 4K 120P video capture.

The first batch of Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will be equipped with Xiaomi, Redmi, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, OV and other manufacturers, and new devices will be launched from the end of 2022.
