Recently, NIO officially announced that its first “mass-produced” battery swap station in Europe has officially rolled off the production line at the NIO Energy Plant in Hungary, and has been sent to Germany for installation. This is not only an important step for NIO to deploy a charging and swapping network in Europe, but also shows that the brand also has manufacturing capabilities overseas.

It is understood that NIO’s second-generation power exchange facility is produced in Hungary. It adopts a modular design and has a total of 14 battery slots. During normal operation, 13 batteries will be on standby in the slot, and an empty slot will be used as a new and an old battery. use. According to the data provided by Weilai, the second-generation power exchange station can complete 312 battery replacement tasks within 24 hours, which is equivalent to 4.6 minutes for a piece, which is still counting the time for automatic parking.

The new generation of power exchange stations will provide efficient power exchange and energy replenishment services for the NIO ET7 in Europe, which is why its first launch will be in Germany. Some foreign friends have taken spy photos of the NIO ET7 road test in Europe before, and from the perspective of starting the layout of the power station, the new car should not be far from being launched in Germany.

According to NIO’s plan, more than 4,000 swap stations will be built by the end of 2025, of which more than 1,000 will be deployed outside China. That is, not long ago, Weilai announced that the 1100th power exchange station was officially put into operation in China.

In addition, NIO intends to further increase its investment in Hungary, such as establishing an operation center here to promote the brand’s strategic planning in the European market.

NIO battery swap station makes its presence known in Europe https://www.techgoing.com/nio-battery-swap-station-makes-its-presence-known-in-europe/ Sun, 18 Sep 2022 14:31:38 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=27038 The presence of the NIO battery swap station technology will rapidly grow in Europe as the EV brand expands its reach to the region.

The NIO battery swap station is making its way into the European region as the EV maker’s presence is becoming more obvious. This system is simply questioning the need to charge your EV for long hours when you can just change the dying battery to a fully charged one. NIO is confident that this service will help EV owners cope with the lack of fast chargers.

Currently, some countries in Europe like Hungary have the NIO battery swap station. But as the EV manufacturer expands further into the region, there is a need to deploy more batteries to meet the demands which will surge. Currently, Germany is receiving some battery swap stations from NIO for installation.

NIO is also making plans to expand its reach with this service to more European countries. On its ever-growing list are the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark, these countries are to get their charging stations before the end of the year. Once available, these battery swapping stations will change EV owners’ battery’s in less than 3 minutes, hence giving them a head start for the ride ahead.

According to NIO, these stations can swap up to 312 batteries per day, hence making them quite effective. But, the service will be exclusive to Nio EVs for at least a while, possibly more EV brands with similar battery packs will be able to benefit from this service. By 2025 NIO plans to make up to 1000 of these battery swap stations available in Europe and regions outside its domestic market, China.
