Microsoft recently issued a press release stating that it is improving the Microsoft Search search engine. Users will feel these improvements when using products such as Workplace Search, Windows systems, Edge address bar, and Graph Connectors.

In this improvement, Microsoft has brought many practical improvements to the Microsoft Search search engine, including searching for work-related files, folders, and document content in Windows systems.

Microsoft Win11 users only need to open the search bar and enter the document name. A filter list will appear. Users can click “Work” and all work-related document content will be automatically filtered.

Microsoft also provides a search tip. Enter “Work:” in the search box or select the suitcase LOGO to search for work-related document content.

If you want to search for more related content, you can select relevant bubble categories to maximize the chance of finding the correct file. The picture as follows:

Microsoft today opened the door to adding support for Apple’s iCloud to all Outlook applications using the new version of Win11. Users can click the gear icon in the menu to add their own iCloud account.

The classic and UWP Outlook apps have previously supported Apple’s email service, but after upgrading to the new web-based version of Win11 Outlook, Microsoft did not update to add support.

Note: Although the new version of Outlook application launched by Microsoft has introduced a lot of new features, there are still many users who are not satisfied with the new version. Some users believe that the new version of Outlook is just a web version wearing a vest. Microsoft has also actively upgraded based on user feedback and recently added offline support.

Outlook currently supports Gmail, Google Calendar, Contacts, and more, and now it’s adding support for iCloud once again.

There are two different lists of system requirements for Windows 11, one for Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2. Although the system requirements for Windows 11 haven’t changed much since the release of 21H2, Microsoft still updates them from time to time.

Microsoft updated this CPU list around May to include some new Intel chips, primarily Raptor Lake (13th Gen). Later, Microsoft updated the list of CPUs supported by Windows 11 in August this year, deleting 44 Intel Xeon server processors.

Now, Microsoft has once again added the Xeon E-21/22 series to the Win11 support list, but only the Xeon E-21/22 series has been added back, and the E-23 series has not appeared. A total of 10 E-23 series have been deleted. processor.

Microsoft released the October cumulative update KB5031354 to Windows 11, aimed at fixing various types of bugs and providing some functionality updates. However, as in the past, this update also brought new problems to some users.

A large number of users have reported that Windows 11 KB5031354 fails to install on some systems and causes File Explorer, games to crash.

Among them, installation error reporting as well as cyclic installation is the most common kind of problem, with error codes including 0x800f0922, 0x80070002, 0x800f0900 and so on. Of course, after some users encounter the error report, the system will usually continue to download and repeat the installation, and then continue to loop.

These users have tried the following solutions, but unfortunately, none of them worked:

  • Delete the SoftwareDistribution folder.
  • Windows Update Troubleshooting.
  • Windows 11 Installation Assistant.
  • Manual installation through the Microsoft Update Catalog.
  • Running SFC scannow and other system integrity checks.

It is worth mentioning that some users who have installed KB5031354 are experiencing File Explorer crashes, for example, this user clicks on the Start menu and then selects File Explorer or clicks on the Settings app and it crashes, and then the desktop icon or the taskbar suddenly blinks, which means that explorer.exe just crashed and then restarted itself.

This phenomenon will only appear in a small number of PCs, and will not affect all users, we here recommend that users encountering such problems temporarily uninstall the update and choose to pause the update, and wait for Microsoft’s subsequent fix.

According to the feedback from Microsoft forums, there are still some Win11 users who can’t start their virtual machines after installing the update, but it seems that only virtual machines with “Safe Boot” enabled will be affected.

In addition to this, AMD users have reported that after installing KB5031354, they found that their profiles reset every time they restarted their computers. This means that there is a conflict between Win11 and AMD that prevents the system from saving AMD profiles, so we also recommend uninstalling the update for users who need to overclock or downclock.

It’s worth noting that KB5031354 also seems to cause some games to crash, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, though the issue mainly affects NVIDIA users. Users have reported that the logs in the Event Viewer show that such game crashes point to the Nvidia GeForce driver, but uninstalling the update solves the problem.

Additionally, some users have reported that they are experiencing a drop in-game FPS. This issue only affects systems running the Windows 11 October 2023 Cumulative Update, and removing the patch will resolve the issue.

The end of Microsoft’s support for the first version of Windows 11. If your computer is still running the Windows 11 21H2 version, then it is time to upgrade to the latest feature update.

Microsoft says certain editions of Windows 11 version 21H2 will reach end-of-service on October 10, 2023, and they are Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro Workstation. After this time, devices running these versions will not receive monthly security and quality updates. These updates include protection against the latest security threats. Microsoft will continue to support the remaining versions of Windows 11 version 21H2.

Microsoft released Windows 11 version 21H2 to the public on October 5, 2021. In addition to having a more modern look, this operating system also introduces features and improvements aimed at improving productivity, such as Snap Layouts, Windows Subsystem for Android, better external monitor support, Windows widgets, and more.

However, users’ response to this version was not enthusiastic, and due to the high hardware requirements, many computers that are still capable of running cannot be upgraded from Windows 10 to 11. Additionally, many users expressed dislike for the redesigned taskbar and start menu as they lacked many features due to a hasty release.

Microsoft has spent two years polishing Windows 11, and the latest Windows 11 version 22H2, with its “Moment 4” feature updates, is more user-friendly for users migrating from Windows 10, which is about to end support.

If your PC is still running Windows 11 version 21H2, you can upgrade to 22H2 and the Moment 3 update. You can also choose to download Moment 4, which is a non-security optional update that includes some highly anticipated features, such as taskbar reorganization, redesigned volume slider, native RGB control, Copilot, etc. Microsoft will Automatically update most Windows 11 devices to the Moment 4 update in November 2023.

Later this year, Microsoft will release Windows 11 version 23H2 with virtually no changes and will be supported for two years like the 21H2 and 22H2 versions.

Microsoft today pushed the Canary, Dev and Beta channels of Win11 preview updates, and also updated the Snipping Tool and Notepad applications.

The snipping tool upgraded to version 11.2307.44.0

This update focuses on the introduction of a screenshot navigation bar to facilitate users to switch between screenshots and screen recording without opening the application.

Users can use the Print Screen button or the Win + Shift + S keyboard combination to open the navigation bar for quick screenshots. Users can also continue to use the Win + Shift + R keyboard key combination to quickly record the screen.

Microsoft also actively listens to user feedback and suggestions to improve the screen recording experience, and the microphone can optionally record PC audio and voiceover.

The Notepad application has been upgraded to version 11.2307.22.0

After a user upgrades, Notepad automatically saves the session state, allowing you to close Notepad without any interruption dialogues, and then pick up where you left off when you return. Notepad will automatically restore previously opened tabs and unsaved content, allowing users to continue editing.

Users can still choose whether to save or discard unsaved changes to files when closing the tab. If you prefer to start over every time you open Notepad, you can turn this feature off in the application settings.
