According to “Autocar”, Mercedes-Benz performance division AMG has launched a plan to develop a “super SUV” based on its own pure electric platform. This new car will be positioned as a flagship product and will be launched in 2026. Year debut. According to reports, its design aims to compete with the “K1” three-row flagship SUV being developed by BMW XM, Lotus Eletre and Porsche.

The car will not be based on existing Mercedes-Benz models and will be developed entirely by AMG, with unique styling and interior layout. From a positioning perspective, it will become the “natural successor” to the current AMG GLE 63. According to sources, the length of this new car can reach 5100mm and the wheelbase exceeds 3000mm to provide spacious interior space and diverse expandability. Its “comparison model” BMW XM has a length of 5110mm and a wheelbase of 3105mm.

In terms of other configurations, the car is built on an 800V electric architecture and will be equipped with an axial flux motor and a specially developed MB.OS car-machine system, which is internally called “AMG.OS”.

The axial flux motor equipped with the new car will be developed by Yasa, a company acquired by AMG. It weighs only 59 pounds (Note: approximately 26.786 kilograms) and can output 486 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It is reported that the platform developed by AMG can support a maximum four-motor all-wheel drive configuration.

This means that AMG’s new pure electric SUV is expected to bring power well over 1,000 horsepower, and also has advanced four-wheel drive and torque vectoring technology.

The all-electric SUV will be produced at Mercedes-Benz’s Sindelfingen plant in Germany, along with the new GT four-door coupe. According to sources at the factory, preparations are currently underway for two new pure-electric AMG models, which will be produced on the same line.

More automobile manufacturing companies are switching to the electric trend, and Mercedes-AMG wants in on all the fun. The German company for quite a while hasn’t made any big announcement about launching a pure electric car until its EQ series hit the market. The company’s promotion of this line involved showing off the benefits of driving an EV as against a regular diesel vehicle.

Mercedes now says it’s time to bring the high-performance AMG vehicles into the all-electric fold. For years now, the AMG has shown Mercedes strength in the automobile industry. The German automobile factory has just shown off its prototype or vision of an all-electric, future Mercedes-AMG. This car isn’t in production and might not go into large-scale production since it is a concept car. It aims at getting the public’s mindset on the company’s vision of a high-performance electric Mercedes-AMG.

Mercedes-AMG EV concept

Images of this car from Mercedes’s official website show a design that doesn’t want to go unnoticed. This is a shouty and futuristic car design that might appeal to the younger generation. The flush finish of this vehicle might be what comes to your mind when you think of an electric vehicle, as it stands nowhere close to regular vehicle designs.

Surprisingly, there is only one windscreen on this car, which is at the front. Still, on the issue of glasses, the Mercedes-AMG has no glass side mirror, taking its place is a protruding bar. Possibly, there will be camera sensors across areas that usually aid visibility.

We can as well notice the headlights that take the Mercedes logo’s three line design. As with most EVs, there is no grill in the front of the car due to the lack of a combustion engine and large heat dissipation fans. The Vision AMG as it is called isn’t a coupe but a saloon (with front and rear doors).

The design seen on this car is very futuristic, and Mercedes plans to move its AMG series into the all-electric industry come 2025. Is this the design that the coming electric Mercedes-AMG will adopt? We can’t tell, but we do know that an electric future for the high-performance Mercedes-AMG line is certain.
