Meng Wanzhou talks about being appointed as the rotating chairman: Huawei is a collective leader, not an individual successor

Huawei released its 2022 annual report today. The report shows that Huawei’s overall operations are stable, with global sales revenue of 642.3 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, and net profit of 35.6 billion CNY, a year-on-year decline of 68.7%. Facing the future, Huawei continues to increase R&D investment. In 2022, R&D investment will reach 161.5 billion CNY, accounting for 25.1% of the annual revenue. The cumulative R&D expenses invested in ten years will exceed 977.3 billion CNY.

But this is such a “weird” genius, after ten years of breaking the algorithm problems from 2G to 3G, Huawei also based on this achievement, launched a Single RAN solution for the European market, gradually overtake our competitors.

The “weird minority”, which is hard to understand, may have a talent that is hard to surpass in some aspects. “The way we employ people is to use their strengths and make the best use of their talents.

The main character of the second short story graduated from Tsinghua University in 2016 with a master’s degree in chemistry. He joined Huawei and worked in software coding and development. He said that the change of track was born out of love. In one programming session, he realized the similarities between writing code and chemistry experiments, both of which require detailed design in a scenario full of uncertainties, fully considering variable factors and starting with the end in mind.
