Ingka Group, the parent company of IKEA, said in a statement that it would acquire 100% of New Jersey-headquartered software maker Made4net for an undisclosed amount. Ingka digital director Wim Blaauw pointed out that as IKEA continues to receive rapid growth in orders from the Internet, it needs to invest in the most advanced technology to provide consumers with a better shopping experience.

The proportion of IKEA’s online sales has been increasing in recent years. Last year, 25% of Ingka’s sales came from online, while in 2020, this proportion is only 7%. Ingka said the acquisition of Made4net will help Ingka’s employees, who currently rely on warehouse records to find inventory, and quickly and accurately find and ship products.

It is learned that this is Ingka’s third acquisition of an Internet-related company in six years. In 2017, Ingka acquired talent recruitment platform TaskRabbit, and in 2020 it acquired 3D vision developer Geomagical Labs.

IKEA and Little Sun have announced a partnership to develop two new solar-powered LED Lamps called SAMMANLANKAD.

Little Sun is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing alternative energy solutions and pursuing the goal of providing clean energy solutions to a broader global audience.

The two new LED Lamps, for the tabletop and ceiling, are designed to mimic the orbits of the sun and the earth in terms of appearance. The lamp has a 23.5-degree angle hemispherical central light source that is fixed to a mirror and surrounded by a metal ring. The lamp is available as a table lamp with a base or as a ceiling-mounted chandelier.

In addition, the fixture’s internal solar dome light is removable, allowing users to carry it around or hang it from other devices.

The Lamp is powered by solar panels and rechargeable batteries. If needed, users can also charge the bulb directly through the USB-A or USB-C port. In addition, the bulb is also a rechargeable treasure, can be used to reverse power for cell phones.

The specific parameters of the IKEA SAMMANLANKAD solar LED Lamps such as brightness are not yet found. Ikea said they have a relatively high brightness output due to the size of the LED bulbs, and the two Lamps will be released in select markets this month, with pricing not yet announced.
