The Honor 70 series MagicOS 7.0 public beta activity started yesterday. Users who upgrade to the internal beta version of MagicOS 7.0 do not need to participate in the public beta activities, and the public beta version has been pushed.

Honor officially reminds us that because the public beta version is still in the development stage, its operation may not be as ideal as the official commercial version, such as some applications (including three-party applications) may be unstable or incompatible, affecting the user’s experience.

It should be noted that users should back up their important data in advance before upgrading to the public beta version (if you withdraw from the public beta activity, you need to roll back to the stable version, and this rollback operation will clear all user data). In addition, Honor recommends that the phone set aside 10GB of internal storage space to avoid the possibility of not being able to upgrade due to a lack of space.

Honor officially reminded that since the public beta version is still in the development stage, its operation effect may not be as ideal as the official commercial version. For example, some applications (including third-party applications) may be unstable or incompatible, which will affect the user experience.

It should be noted that before the user upgrades the public beta version, the important data of the mobile phone should be backed up in advance (if you quit the public beta activity, you need to roll back to the stable version, and this rollback operation will clear all user data). In addition, Honor recommends that the mobile phone reserve 10GB of internal storage space to avoid possible upgrades due to insufficient space.

Honor MagicOS 7.0 will be officially released in November 2022. MagicOS 7.0 fully upgrades the software system architecture, bringing four platform-level root technologies and system core services: MagicRing Trust Ring, Magic Live Smart Engine, Turbo X System Engine, and MagicGuard Honor Security.

The long-awaited Honor 70 series are finally here, this line-up features a total of three devices. Among the three devices are two Pro models, which both make use of MediaTek Dimensity flagship processors. The base model uses a Snapdragon 778G+ processor, all three devices feature slightly curved screen edges. The design language across the Honor 70 series stays similar, the only notable difference will be in the camera cutout of the base model. Let’s now take a look at the specifications of all three models.

Honor 70 Pro+ specifications and features

Honor 70 Pro and Pro+

The 70 Pro+ comes with the highest specifications among the three devices from Honor’s new launch. The device comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor. It also has a triple rear camera setup that borrows a few design points from the Honor 60 series cutout. Here are the specifications of the Honor 70 Pro+:

  • Screen: 6.78-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and PWM dimming.
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
  • Storage: 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB storage variants.
  • Main Camera: Triple setup with a 54MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera.
  • Front Camera: 50MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 4500mAh battery with 100W fast charge.
  • Operating System: Magic UI OS 6.1, running on Android 12 without Google Play Services.
  • Biometrics: Under display fingerprint sensor.

The main camera on this device is the new Sony IMX800, which promises vivid image capturing. The video capability of this smartphone receives a boost from Honor’s software implementations. With the specifications of this device, we can comfortably say that it will offer a flagship experience.

The major difference between the 70 Pro+ model and the Pro model is the process and added storage options. On the 70 Pro, the processor powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 8000 processor. This is a midrange flagship processor, although not being as capable as the Dimensity 9000 processor it still offers a premium experience. The storage options on this device are, 8GB/12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage.

Honor 70 specifications and features

Honor 70

Being the base model, there are changes to most specifications and features of the device. A processor for Snapdragon, which isn’t as capable as those on the 70 Pro models. The battery got a little increase in capacity and an obvious reduction in charging speed. Below are the full specifications of the Honor 70:

  • Screen: 6.67-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor: Snapdragon 778G+ 5G processor.
  • Storage: 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB storage options.
  • Main Camera: Triple setup with a 54MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto camera.
  • Front Camera: 32MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 4800mAh battery with 66W fast charge.
  • Operating System: Magic UI 6.1, running on Android 12 without Google Play Services.
  • Biometrics: Under display fingerprint sensor.

These are specifications of a typical budget device, it’ll be entering a very competitive market. It might face some setbacks due to its lack of core Google services. But, Honor has seen improvement in sales in the Chinese region by outselling the existing competition. This device will find a perfect spot in the Chinese and Asian markets.

Honor 70 series price and availability

The 70 Pro will retail at 4399 yuan (~$660) for the 12GB/512GB option and 3999 yuan (~$600) for the 12GB/256GB option. The least storage being the 8GB/256GB option will retail at 3699 yuan (~$555).

The colours of this device are quite impressive and eye-catching. They come in a total of four colour options namely, Bright Black, Mo Yuqing, Mist Sand, and Streamer Crystal. The Mist Sand and Streamer Crystal colour options take a similar design pattern to the Huawei P50 Pocket. These are great devices with amazing specifications that might be ignored by those who rely solely on core Google Play Services.
