After Core 14th Generation desktop processors, Gigabyte announces the launch of DDR5-8400 CL40 48GB (2x24GB) Ultra High-Speed Memory Kit.

GIGABYTE has released a statement on the DDR5 motherboard “burned” memory SPD information incident, advising users to update their BIOS and GCC software.

GIGABYTE attributes the cause of this incident to the fact that there is no standardization on whether or not DDR5 memory on the market provides “SPD Write Protect” settings, and as a result, some memory that is not compatible with “SPD Write Protect” may cause the above error when used with GCC software. GIGABYTE’s newest product is the SPD Write Protect.

In this regard, GIGABYTE said that this situation will only affect the memory SPD firmware code, and will not affect the memory hardware itself, just need to re-flash the SPD firmware can let the memory back to normal, and recommended that users update the BIOS and GCC software (download address: https://www.gigabyte.cn/Consumer/Software/) GIGABYTE-Control-Center/).

Recently, we have noticed that some users on the Internet have provided feedback on the problem of incorrect memory SPD information when using GIGABYTE D5 motherboards.

We take this feedback very seriously and have been in touch with the users concerned to discuss the issue in depth. After continuous testing by GIGABYTE engineers and troubleshooting one by one, we found that:

    1. Different brands of D5 memory products on the market are not unified in terms of whether or not they provide "SPD Write Protect" settings. Some memory products do not have "SPD write protection".

    When D5 memory products without SPD write protection are used with GIGABYTE GIGABYTE Control Center (hereinafter referred to as GCC) software, there is a very small probability that SPD information will be incorrect. We have verified that this condition only affects the memory SPD firmware code and does not affect the memory hardware itself. Simply reflashing the SPD firmware will restore the memory to normal.

The Solution: GIGABYTE has implemented a solution for D5 motherboards.

GIGABYTE has provided a new version of GCC software and BIOS for D5 motherboards, so you can avoid this issue by using the latest version of GCC software and BIOS from the official website. We recommend all GIGABYTE D5 motherboard users to update.

According to the feedback from posters, in May or even earlier this year, some users of GIGABYTE’s Z790 series, especially the Dawg, Dawg M, and Super Dawg series motherboards, have experienced unexplained damage to their memory sticks, with the phenomenon of one of the sticks in the set suddenly failing.

There has been a lot of feedback from GIGABYTE users, and it was later discovered that the BIOS on the GIGABYTE Z790 motherboards secretly tampered with the SPD information, which ultimately led to the memory not being properly recognized and thus failing to work. Some users have suggested eliminating the use of GCC, but some have said that the memory will fail without it.

GIGABYTE launched a new generation of AORUS Z790 X Gen motherboards. This series of motherboards supports Intel’s 14th-generation Core processors, with a special focus on “DDR5 performance, user-centred BIOS improvements, and innovative hardware enhancements”.

The new motherboards are said to deliver best-in-class DDR5 compatibility and performance, with XMP Auto Enhancement supporting XMP-8266 or higher rate DDR5 memory, allowing users to easily boost DDR5-5600 to 6000 with a single click.

The AORUS Z790 X Gen motherboard brings M.2 EZ-Latch Click as well as M.2 EZ-Latch Plus technology, which allows for M.2 heatsink installation without screws, greatly simplifying the M.2 SSD installation process. It also features PCIe EZ-Latch (Plus) technology to help users easily remove the graphics card.

In addition, the Z790 AORUS PRO X and B760M AORUS ELITE X motherboards feature an exclusive no-wire installation sensor panel. The Z790 AORUS XTREME X also features a 5-inch LCD Edge View display that shows real-time system information and custom images.

According to reports, the AORUS Z790 X Gen motherboards are designed to handle intense workloads and feature an all-metal cooling design. The AORUS XTREME X and AORUS MASTER X motherboards feature a VRM Thermal Armor Fin Array design, which expands the heat dissipation area by 10 times. The new motherboards are also covered with a carbon nano-coating for a further 10% improvement in thermal performance.

These motherboards also feature M.2 Thermal Guard technology on the XTREME and XL models to ensure optimal cooling for PCIe Gen 5 SSDs. Additionally, GIGABYTE states that its I/O ventilation design significantly reduces overall system temperatures by up to 7°C.

GIGABYTE has not yet announced pricing or a launch date for the new motherboards, but a source has released early pricing for GIGABYTE’s new motherboards with unknown credibility. The party information is expected to be revealed on the night of Intel’s 14th Gen Core processor release, so stay tuned.

AMD Ryzen 7030U series processors are based on the Zen 3 architecture, manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm process, with a TDP of 15W.

According to foreign technology media Wired, network security experts from Eclypsium found security vulnerabilities in 271 motherboards sold by Gigabyte and millions of motherboards.

The researchers discovered a mechanism in the firmware of these motherboards that triggers a hidden update procedure. Eclypsium believes that attackers can use this mechanism to install malicious programs without the user’s knowledge, which is difficult to detect and remove later.

Eclypsium experts discovered this flaw, along with an apparent flaw in Gigabyte’s motherboard firmware update mechanism. The associated firmware code can be downloaded without proper authentication, and sometimes over an HTTP connection, making it vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks.

Eclypsium has worked with Gigabyte to address these issues, and Gigabyte has expressed interest in addressing them, though Eclypsium won’t be able to cure them for years to come.

Recently, Gigabyte released a brand new external graphics card box – Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box, this product has a built-in liquid-cooled RTX 4090 graphics card, which can be connected with the Thunderbolt 3/4 interface Laptop connection provides powerful gaming performance for thin and light notebooks.

It is reported that the Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box adopts the Aorus Waterforce 240mm AIO cooling solution, which covers the graphics card core, video memory and power supply system on a large copper base, and is connected to a cooling system with two 120mm ” Quiet fan” radiator. This allows the graphics card to run at ultra-low temperatures, maintaining high frequencies and overclocking potential while extending its lifespan.

Gigabyte didn’t reveal which RTX 4090 model the box is using, but guesses it could be a modified Aorus RTX 4090 Xtreme Waterforce. The size of the graphics card box itself is 189 x 302 x 172mm. The design is mature and atmospheric, with black as the main color and only one Aorus RGB logo on the front. In order to ensure the cooling effect, there are ventilation holes on the top and left and right sides of the graphics card box. The entire graphics box is powered by an 850W power supply with a 90% efficiency rating, providing four 8-pin PCIe power plugs. Gigabyte does not recommend that users replace the graphics card, but guess it should be possible, because Gigabyte uses four 8-pin power connectors instead of the native 16-pin power plug.

In addition to the powerful graphics card, the Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box also provides a wealth of rear and front interfaces, including three Displayport 1.4a interfaces, one HDMI 2.1a interface, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an Ethernet port, and a Thunderbolt 3 port (which is also compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4). There is also an additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port on the front panel. The rear-mounted Thunderbolt 3 interface supports up to 100W of power delivery, which can charge the laptop while using the graphics card and other interfaces.

At present, Gigabyte has not announced the price and launch date of the Aorus RTX 4090 Gaming Box. However, Gigabyte’s announcement says the product has already been announced, so it shouldn’t be too long to wait.

According to the Gigabyte roadmap announced by the source HXL, the power consumption of AMD, Nvidia and Intel’s next-generation data center platforms is between 500W and 1000W.

Modern data centers rely on CPUs and GPUs to handle various network loads, which generate a lot of heat during operation. The applications in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) have stimulated manufacturers to launch products with higher performance. Consumption naturally also rises.

According to the roadmap announced by Gigabyte, the power consumption of the next-generation servers launched by Intel and AMD in 2024-2025 is 500W-600W. Note from IT Home: AMD’s SP5 socket supports a maximum power consumption of 700W. Foreign technology media tomshardware thinks this value is a bit conservative.

In terms of data center GPUs, the Nvidia SXM5 GPU has a power consumption of 700W; there is no power consumption data for the AMD Instinct MI300 graphics card.

The slide information also shows that GPU power consumption in PCIe form will increase to between 400W-500W; NVIDIA Grace Hopper Superchip graphics card power consumption will increase to between 600W-1000W.
