Samsung recently decided to take a shot at Apple before the official launch, with the ad in question showing off the unique features of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 4. It even stated that this innovation would not be available on the iPhone. Now, Samsung has once again decided to fire at the iPhone 14 with the return of a brand new ad.

The latest ad, titled “Samsung Galaxy: Join the flip side,” shows a person named Elena desperately trying to forget about her friend’s Galaxy Z Flip 4. “I will never switch to Samsung (camp). I love my phone,” she says. As for which phone Elena uses, you don’t have to think about it – the iPhone.

However, as the ad progresses, Elena keeps thinking about the clamshell design of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. In the end, she wakes up from her dream and orders a Galaxy Z Flip 4 directly from her iPhone, and I have to say, the sarcastic humor is very Samsung.

On August 10, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold4 / Flip4 two folding screen phone. Immediately after August 11, Motorola and Xiaomi also launched Moto Razr 2022 and MIX Fold 2 folding screen phone respectively. Although they are folding screen phones, SLASH GEAR today reported that Samsung folding screen phone hinge technology is more backward.

The importance of the phone hinge is reportedly not only in the ability to allow the phone to fold, but also in the curvature, durability and reliability of the folding screen. So far, Samsung has been using a more traditional hinge solution that leaves a noticeable gap when the phone is folded, thus allowing the phone to use a flexible panel with less curvature. Samsung’s recently released Galaxy Z Fold4 / Flip4 uses this traditional scheme.

Xiaomi, Huawei and OPPO have adopted a new waterdrop hinge solution, which allows the screen bend area to sink into the phone’s body when folded, forming a waterdrop shape. Waterdrop hinge solution can make the phone folded gap is smaller, the current market consumers are also more satisfied with this.

But Samsung found in the research and development stage, that the use of a water drop hinge will let the phone give up IPX8 level of waterproof, and can only do life waterproof. Therefore, in order to retain the IPX8 level of waterproof, Samsung still uses the traditional hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold4 / Flip4.

The company’s main business is to provide a wide range of products and services to its customers, including the MIX Fold 2.

In addition, the Motorola Moto Razr 2022, which also has a water-drop hinge, is only water resistant to life, and does not support IPX8.

The Galaxy Z Fold / Flip 4 has a lower battery capacity than the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but the first two still both outlast the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

TechDroider tested these 6 phones to their limits, including gaming, web browsing, 1080P 60 fps video playback, social apps, short videos, and recorded videos. The refresh rate and brightness were the same in the test, and other conditions were as follows.

The results show that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was the first phone to shut down, lasting 8 hours and 56 minutes, with the temperature on the back of the phone coming to 50.4°C; the second phone to shut down was the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, lasting 9 hours and 4 minutes, with a temperature of 42.1°C; the third to shut down was the Galaxy Z Fold 4, lasting 9 hours and 18 minutes, with a temperature of 39.7°C. The third shutdown was the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which lasted for 9 hours and 18 minutes, with a temperature of 39.7°C.

From these three Samsung’s own products, these two folding phones compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the battery life is longer, the temperature is also lower, which is the Snapdragon 8 + credit, TSMC 4nm process is still stronger than Samsung 4nm process.

Of the three remaining phones, the OnePlus 10 Pro lasted only a minute longer than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (9 hours and 19 minutes), but ran at a higher temperature (45.1°C); then came the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, just released in early July, with a battery life of 9 hours and 38 minutes and a temperature of 44.1°C; the iPhone 13 Pro Max still had the longest battery life The iPhone 13 Pro Max still has the longest battery life, reaching 10 hours and 35 minutes with a temperature of 40.5°C.

He also expects global shipments of folding screen models to reach 20 million units in 2022.

August 13, Android developers can now test their applications on the latest generation of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold / Flip 4 folding phones, even if they do not have these two phones in hand, it does not matter, because now Samsung has added these two phones to its Remote Test Lab (Remote Test Lab) among.

Samsung’s Remote Test Lab program allows app developers to test and fine-tune their upcoming apps on Galaxy devices connected to the cloud in order to get a realistic picture of how the app will run on the phone (e.g., how the app scales, changes, etc. once the folded phone is folded), which is much better than using virtual software or emulators, and also allows them to test their apps with hardware-oriented features such as Flex Mode and App Continuity.

The Remote Test Lab is free, and all that is required to use the service is a free Samsung developer account, a reliable Internet connection, and Java Runtime Environment 7 or higher with Java Web Start installed. Samsung offers each user 20 points per day, which can be redeemed for five hours of remote access to cloud-based mobile hardware each day.

In addition to remotely installing test applications, developers can take screenshots, record audio, and test automation scripts, as well as choose which language to use to test their devices. Remote Test Lab also supports sharing screens with other developers, making it easy for multiple developers to test together.

Remote Test Lab does not support testing hardware peripherals, nor can it test calling and texting features.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 phones are currently available in Samsung remote test labs in Brazil, South Korea, Poland, Russia and the UK, and can be accessed from anywhere in the world, with some regions requiring a queue to test with both phones.

The Unpacked event will be held on Wednesday, August 10 at 9:00 p.m. BST, and Samsung is now accepting pre-orders for these new products.

The tagline for the event’s short film reads, “Explore ways to make the next generation Galaxy even better than your current phone and get ready to embark on a journey to a better experience at the Samsung Unpacked Conference”.
