In China, Ford Motor is accelerating the electrification transformation by deepening cooperation with partners in China, especially cooperation in the research and development of new energy products. Recently, we have obtained a set of imaginary pictures of the new Ford Explorer. The new car will be the seventh generation of this classic SUV model, and the fifth generation that we are very familiar with. , the sixth-generation model, the new car has obviously completely changed its style, its hardcore attributes have been greatly reduced, and the overall look is younger and more fashionable. It is understood that the new car may officially meet us in 2027.

It can be seen that the author of the imaginary diagram showed us three different body colors. At the same time, each model is also distinguished at the detailed design level. For example, the new car may be equipped with black exterior mirrors, which are currently very popular. A black roof design may also appear on the new car. The headlights of the new car are very innovative, and the front grille also has a through-type light strip, which is very eye-catching. The classic C-pillar and D-pillar designs of the Explorer model are retained.

In terms of power, overseas media believe that the new car will not completely abandon the internal combustion engine and may be equipped with a hybrid system. At present, we don’t know more news about the new car, and we will continue to pay attention to the dynamics of the new car in the future.

Motor1 took a set of spy photos of the new Ford Explorer, this time it was a Timberline model equipped with an off-road kit.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5066/2004/1797mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3025mm. It is positioned as a large luxury SUV and offers 6/7 seats for option.

In terms of appearance, the new car does not adopt the new front face of other models, but still chooses the same air intake grille and headlight design as the current model, with a narrow grille and headlights.

It can be seen from the picture that the lower surround of the new car is designed with orange trim and orange tow hooks, while the lower part of the front is made of silver guard plate, which looks very thick.

The side of this model adopts a personalized segmented design, the roof and A\B\ tail pillars are blackened, while the C-pillar side adopts a sloping design and is in the same color as the body.

Its taillights adopt a new shape, which is very different from the domestic version, and the overseas version does not have chrome trim. The roof of this model uses a protruding high-position spoiler, a letter LOGO above the through-type taillights, a three-dimensional structural design of the lamp cavity, and a hidden design of the exhaust pipe.

Power is still unclear, and foreign media believe that it will be equipped with the same 300-horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine as the Mustang mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while a more advanced version may be equipped with a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. .

Ford has not said when it will unveil the new Explorer model, and foreign media expects the SUV to debut before the end of this year and go on sale in early 2024. After inquiry, it is learned that the sixth generation of explorers went into production in 2019 and will be launched in 2020.

Ford has announced a worldwide recall of 462,000 vehicles due to a possible video output malfunction in the rearview camera.

The recall involves some 2020 to 2023 model-year Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviator SUVs, as well as a range of 2020 to 2022 model-year Lincoln Corsairs, according to the Associated Press and Reuters.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a 360-degree camera that displays a live view on the main in-car entertainment touch screen. Most of the affected vehicles are in the United States, where more than 382,000 vehicles are being recalled.

According to a document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the agency contacted Ford in late 2021 saying that its live view camera was unable to output an image and that the reverse image was displaying a blue screen. This followed a recall earlier in 2021 for the same issue. Ford worked with the supplier to analyze the reports, but it wasn’t until December 2022 that Ford reproduced the problem in the lab and in the vehicle, which is likely why Ford is only now issuing the recall.

As of Nov. 30, 2022, there had been 2,115 warranty reports of the problem, the report said. Even the 2021 model year vehicles being recalled are part of this recall, and dealers will update the vehicles’ image-processing module software, Reuters said.
