Recently, the Ram brand officially announced its first electric pickup truck concept, which will be officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. From the official teaser image, the Ram electric pickup truck’s appearance adopts a more avant-garde design style, the “X” shaped light design is very recognizable, and the middle of the “RAM” logo can be lit, more in line with its new energy vehicle identity.

The side of the body still continues the traditional pickup truck shape, but the large angle tilt front windshield and low window design, so the Ram electric pickup truck a little more sporty, the rear geometric shape of the LED taillights, the shape is very simple, the visual effect after lighting is also good.

The Ram electric pickup will be built on the Stellantis Group’s STLA Frame platform, a platform architecture that offers a choice of front-, rear- and four-wheel drive layouts depending on the model, while the standardized battery pack will have a maximum range of about 500 miles, or about 805 kilometers.

It is reported that the first production version of the new car will be officially released in 2023 and is expected to enter production in 2024. It is worth mentioning that the Ram brand also plans to fully transform all of its new vehicles into electric vehicles by 2030, in order to adapt to the changing market demand.

Aug. 12 – U.S. automaker Ford CEO Jim Farley recently claimed that his company’s F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck is already the market leader in the U.S. electric pickup market, and teased Tesla CEO Elon Musk about whether he could still launch a Cybertruck electric pickup truck ( Cybertruck). Musk then retorted, “Thanks, but I already have one.”

Farley touted his own electric pickup truck when he announced a new clean energy deal with DTE Energy, teasing Musk by saying, “Take that.”

When a user shared the video on his personal social media Twitter feed, Musk disagreed back, “Thanks, but I already have one.”

Farley takes the helm at Ford on Oct. 1, 2020. Under his leadership, Ford’s electric pickup truck is ahead of Tesla, with deliveries of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup beginning in late May. Earlier this week, Ford announced an increase in the price of all of its electric pickups.

In contrast, it seems to be a long time before Tesla’s Sable electric pickup truck hits the market. Musk confirmed at Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting last week that the Sable electric pickup will be available in 2023.

As competitors, Ford and Tesla often interact. Last year, Musk boasted that Tesla and Ford were “the only American automakers not in bankruptcy” among thousands of auto startups.

Musk tweeted, “Samples are easy, mass production is hard, cash flow is the most painful.”

Farley retweeted Musk’s comment and replied with one word: “Respect.”

A few months later, Ford appeared to poke fun at Musk in an ad it released.

“Right now, it seems like the only person who matters is the loudest,” actor Bryan Cranston said in an off-camera message. “The people who want to screw things up and then fly away in a private spaceship when things get harder.”

The terrain in question could be a reference to Musk’s SpaceX project, as well as the recent racial bias lawsuit Tesla has faced.

Ford today showcased the F-150 Lightning Pro SSV, an electric pickup truck designed specifically for law enforcement. The truck is a variant of the F-150 Lightning Pro, a version of Ford’s electric pickup truck designed for commercial customers and fleet owners. Ford has equipped the F-150 Lightning Pro SSV (which stands for “Special Service Vehicle”) with all the features that police have relied on for years, as well as other benefits unique to electric vehicles, such as fast acceleration and a lower total cost of ownership.

The new F-150 Lightning was revealed more than two years after protests for racial justice and against police brutality erupted across the United States following the murder of George Floyd, forcing many companies to reconsider their relationships with law enforcement.

Ford has previously sold gas-powered versions of the F-150 to police departments, and the F-150 Lightning Pro SSV will have many of the same specifications, including police-grade, heavy-duty cloth seats with reduced supports to help officers with guns enter and exit the vehicle; steel anti-intrusion panels on the front seatbacks; roof-mounted LED warning lights; a reinforced dashboard top tray for easy mounting of police equipment; and an easy-to-clean vinyl rear seat and vinyl floor.

The Ford Pro has a variety of additional features, including Ford’s telematics software, which makes it easier for fleet owners to keep track of a vehicle’s location, charge status or health. Ford said it is offering a two-year subscription for police departments interested in purchasing the F-150 Lightning Pro SSV.

Ford also offers flexible financing options for cities and towns interested in purchasing electric pickups for their police departments. The company’s bodybuilder consulting service offers a range of guidelines and methods for police officers who want to modify or improve their pickups with aftermarket equipment.

Among U.S. automakers, Ford is the leading seller of police vehicles of all shapes and sizes, accounting for about two-thirds of the market. From the Crown Victoria to today’s Explorer-based cruisers, Ford has been a favorite of police departments. While it’s not a large source of the company’s annual revenue, Ford has long argued that its overall lineup benefits from new technologies (e.g., hybrid systems) being tested in police vehicles.

Ford has tried out its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV in some police departments, and while it performed well in acceleration and braking tests, the ratings of participating officers remained relatively low.

But the 2020 national protest movement has cast a stern eye on Ford’s police business. Employees within Ford demanded that the company’s leadership stop making and selling police vehicles, but the company’s CEO at the time, Jim Hackett, didn’t see the need. It was clear that Ford was not interested in severing ties with law enforcement, despite some of the most gruesome viral videos of protesters being run over by police officers driving Ford vehicles.
