Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes that the future of artificial intelligence in the field of top companies will likely be in the AI personal assistant direction, that is, the ability to perform certain specific tasks for people.

According to Bill Gates, “This technology will have a profound impact and could fundamentally change user behaviour. No matter who wins the personal agent war, it’s a big deal because you’ll never go to a search site again, never go to a productivity site again, and never go to Amazon again.”

On Monday, local time, Bill Gates said at an artificial intelligence-themed event held jointly by U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs and venture capital firm SV Angel in San Francisco, the yet-to-be-developed AI personal assistant will be able to understand the needs and habits of individuals and will help them “read what you don’t have time to read.

Bill Gates predicted that the winner of this future AI field will be either a startup or a tech giant, with a 50-50 chance. He said, “I’d be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t get in on this.”

Bill Gates also mentioned Inflection.AI, co-founded by Mustafa Suleyman, a former executive at Google’s AI lab DeepMind, adding, “But there are a few startups that have impressed me, including Inflection. “

It will be some time before this powerful digital agent of the future is ready for mainstream use, Bill Gates said. Until then, the company will continue to embed so-called generative artificial intelligence technology in its own products, similar to OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT.

Bill Gates also discussed its efforts in the direction of health at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, saying AI will accelerate innovation in the field and help develop more advanced medicines.

Although scientists still can’t completely figure out the inner workings of the human brain, the Microsoft co-founder believes humans are getting closer to creating effective drugs for diseases like Alzheimer’s, with human trials of new drugs likely within 10 years.

Bill Gates also likens the ability to produce compelling text-generating artificial intelligence technology to a game changer, convinced that it will impact the white-collar class. At the same time, he believes that future companies using humanoid robots that are cheaper than human employees will also greatly impact the jobs of blue-collar workers.

Bill Gates jokingly said, “When we invent these robots, we just need to make sure they don’t suffer from Alzheimer’s.”

Foreign technology media NeoWin has once again unearthed an old debt from 25 years ago, when Gates demonstrated Win98 on April 20, 1998, with a blue screen of death on the device.

The public demonstration took place at the annual COMDEX trade show in Chicago, where Microsoft co-founder and then CEO Bill Gates, along with his assistant Chris Capossela, gave a public demonstration of Win98.

Capossela demonstrated the Win98 system’s support for plug-and-play by automatically blue-screening the Win98 system after connecting a scanner. This was one of the most famous blue screens in Microsoft’s history and provoked laughter from the audience.

But Capossela and Gates didn’t panic, as Gates calmly quipped, “That must be why we haven’t launched Win98 yet”.

The blue screen was not the first of its kind in Win98, the COMDEX keynote certainly made more users aware of the Windows blue screen experience.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said today that pausing the development of AI will not solve future challenges in the field. This is the first time Bill Gates has made a public statement since Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other thousands of technologists issued an open letter and sparked a big discussion about the future of artificial intelligence.

Last week, thousands of technologists, including Elon Musk, published an open letter calling for a moratorium on training AI systems more powerful than GPT-4. The open letter says all AI labs should immediately suspend training AI systems stronger than GPT-4 for at least six months. Otherwise, the government should step in and take coercive measures.

In response, Bill Gates said in an interview today that a moratorium on development doesn’t really solve the problem. Instead, figuring out how to optimally leverage developments in the field of artificial intelligence is the hard truth. And a true global moratorium on AI technology doesn’t seem very realistic.

Bill Gates added: “I don’t think asking a particular group to suspend development of AI technologies is going to solve the challenges involved. Obviously, they’re practical. What we need to do is identify the tough problems and solve them.

Currently, while Bill Gates is fully focused on his charity, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, he has been an optimistic proponent of AI, describing it as as revolutionary as the Internet or cell phones.

On March 21, Bill Gates also wrote on his blog, GatesNotes, that the age of artificial intelligence had begun and predicted how it would change areas such as jobs, climate change, health care and education.

But then (last Monday), Elon Musk threw cold water on Bill Gates’ comments. Elon Musk tweeted, “I’ve discussed AI with Bill Gates before and he has a very limited understanding of the technology. To this day, it remains so.”

In fact, Elon Musk and Bill Gates have long been just tit-for-tat, looking down on each other. In February, Bill Gates said he would rather fund vaccines to save lives than spend money to go to Mars.

In fact, it’s quite expensive to go to Mars,” he said. Instead, you can buy a measles vaccine and save a life for $1,000.” Bill Gates also said that Elon Musk is not a great philanthropist, at least so far.

And Elon Musk has said, “Honestly, my conversations with Bill Gates have been tasteless.”

Despite their feud over climate change, artificial intelligence and more, Bill Gates and Elon Musk may agree on one thing: the self-driving car revolution potential. Gates recently published a blog post about self-driving cars. He predicts that self-driving car technology will reach a “tipping point” within the next decade. Once cars are truly self-driving, they will be as revolutionary as personal computers.

“By then, self-driving cars will have revolutionized transportation in the same way that personal computers have revolutionized office work,” Gates said.

He also recently rode in a self-driving car developed by British startup Wayve, an experience that seemed to leave a lasting impression on him. The experience, he said, was “fantastic.” But he also noted on his blog that the safety driver next to him took over the car on several occasions.

“The self-driving car took us around central London in one of the most challenging driving environments imaginable. It felt a bit surreal to be in the car because it avoided all the traffic. ā€¯Gates said.

Gates believes that personal vehicles will only have self-driving capabilities after self-driving technology is applied to long-distance trucks, delivery vehicles, taxis and rental cars. He predicts that self-driving cars will eventually be cheaper than regular cars, save people time (time spent driving) and help the elderly and disabled get around. However, he believes widespread adoption of self-driving cars may be “decades away”.

So far, no personal vehicle can drive itself, although some companies have begun offering robo-taxi services in certain cities. Services like GM’s Cruise and Waymo use detailed maps and programming to operate only in specific areas of the city. By contrast, Wayve (much like Tesla) wants to develop an AI-powered car that can learn to drive anywhere, even places it hasn’t been before.

Bill Gates has been pushing for years to raise awareness of climate change initiatives, and recently said that people on Earth must change almost everything they do to save the planet.

Bill Gates & Elon Musk

But a U.S. organization focused on promoting infrastructure development recently questioned Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ double standard on climate change, and why he himself hasn’t stopped flying on private jets after the billionaire called for doing “almost everything” to combat climate change. The group says in the video, “Use #BeyondHypocrisy (more than hypocrisy) to call out the worst offenders.”

Bill Gates has said that taking private jets does not make him part of the problem because he has invested billions of dollars in the fight against climate change.

Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded by saying that if the former Microsoft leader really wanted to help the climate, giving up his massive short position in Tesla would be “a step in the right direction.

Elon Musk has long questioned Bill Gates’ shorting of Tesla, tweeting last May that “Bill Gates is shorting Tesla for billions of dollars while claiming to help solve the global warming problem. I have some trust issues with Bill Gates. “Bill Gates responded in an interview last June that he has invested more in climate change than Elon Musk or anyone else, and that the shorting didn’t hurt Elon Musk.

There has been some contention between Bill Gates and Elon Musk over the past few years. Bill Gates has questioned the validity of some Tesla products, while Elon Musk has been critical of Bill Gates for taking short positions against Tesla, and most recently Bill Gates called Elon Musk’s goal of bringing life to Mars practically pointless, saying, “Going to Mars is actually expensive, you can buy a measles vaccine for $1,000 and save lives, so that gives you something to realize: don’t go to Mars. .”

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said that OpenAI’s GPT artificial intelligence model is the most revolutionary technological advance since he first saw a modern graphical desktop environment (GUI) in 1980.

Before the advent of GUIs, people used their computers via the command line. Bill Gates took the “GUI” technology and used it as the basis for the Windows operating system, creating a modern software giant: Microsoft. Now, Bill Gates sees similarities between OpenAI’s GPT model, which can write text similar to human output, and the GUI, which can generate nearly usable computer code.

On Tuesday, Bill Gates wrote in a blog post, “The Age of AI Has Begun,” that last year he challenged the OpenAI team to develop an artificial intelligence model that could pass a biology exam for a college prerequisite course. As a result, OpenAI’s data said the GPT-4, released to the public last week, scored the highest on that exam.

Bill Gates says the AI era has begun

“The whole experience has been astounding. I know I’ve just seen the most important technological advancement since the graphical user interface,” Bill Gates said, adding that “the development of artificial intelligence is as important as the birth of the microprocessor, the personal computer, the Internet and the cell phone. It will change the way people work, learn, travel, access health care and communicate with each other. Entire industries will re-adapt around it. Businesses will differentiate themselves by how they use it.”

Bill Gates suggested that when people talk about AI, they should “balance” their fears of it being biased, wrong or unfriendly with its potential to improve lives. He also argued that governments and philanthropies should support AI tools to improve education and health in developing countries because companies will not necessarily choose to make these investments themselves.

Bill Gates is the latest prominent technologist to see the latest advances in artificial intelligence as a major shift in the technology industry. He joins former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in predicting that data-based machine learning could transform the industry. Current corporate CEOs also see significant opportunities for AI applications and tools. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said Tuesday that the field is experiencing an “iPhone moment,” referring to the moment when a new technology is widely adopted and entrepreneurs see opportunities for new businesses and products.

Bill Gates, Microsoft and OpenAI, which developed the GPT model, have close ties. Microsoft has invested $10 billion in the startup and sells some of its artificial intelligence software through Azure cloud services.

In a recent media interview, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said he was excited about the AI chatbot ChatGPT and the many accomplishments in AI over the last year. He also offered three suggestions for potential uses for ChatGPT: as a math tutor, as a medical consultant for some Africans who lack medical care, and as a poet like Shakespeare.

Such AI could become math tutors, Bill Gates said, helping students enhance their learning. They could also act as medical advisers, helping to provide medical advice to some Africans who have not usually seen a doctor in their lives. Currently, there aren’t enough white-collar workers to pursue such “worthy causes,” and AI could help meet those needs.

In addition to these two uses, Bill Gates mentioned his favorite “fun things” to do with ChatGPT, including writing poetry with his friends, although his main reason for trying ChatGPT was “for more serious purposes. Bill Gates said, “The fact that you can command ChatGPT to ‘write poetry like Shakespeare,’ and it does, is really interesting that the AI has gotten creative.” He also added that after he read the poems ChatGPT wrote, he admitted that they couldn’t write them himself.

Although Bill Gates leaves the Microsoft board in 2020, he said he still spends time discussing the development and potential of AI with the tech giant’s product teams. Microsoft recently announced a multibillion-dollar investment in ChatGPT developer OpenAI, an investment that reportedly could eventually reach $10 billion. This comes after Microsoft has already made other investments in OpenAI in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

Bill Gates said he has been interested in AI since he started learning about ChatGPT, saying it has the same historical significance as the birth of the personal computer and the Internet. In an interview, he said, “The ability of computers to see, hear and write is a goal that the entire industry has been pursuing for a long time.”

Although impressed with the poem ChatGPT wrote, Bill Gates called it “really imperfect” and “not very intuitive. He also said he has seen ChatGPT make mistakes in answering math problems.

AI will be controversial, but it will be the ‘hottest topic of 2023,’ and it has the power to change the job market, but it could also get out of hand or go in the wrong direction,” Bill Gates acknowledged. “

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates (Bill Gates) said in an interview program broadcast on Thursday that he would rather spend money on life-saving vaccines than on Mars, but he thinks Elon Musk (Elon Musk) will become a “great philanthropist “.

Bill Gates

In the interview, Gates talked about the difference in focus between himself and Elon Musk. When asked if he would encourage Elon Musk to join the “Super Rich Philanthropists Club,” Gates made the comment. The club includes Gates, Warren Buffett and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

“Yes, I think he’s going to be a great philanthropist one day,” Gates said of Elon Musk. “Obviously, companies like Tesla have a positive impact even if it’s not in the form of charity. But anyway, I don’t think he’ll spend the money on himself, except for a couple of trips to Mars, which might cost a little bit of money. Elon Musk will eventually use his ingenuity and become a philanthropist.”

Gates also said that, in his opinion, going to Mars is not putting money to good use. “Going to Mars is actually quite expensive. You can buy a measles vaccine and save lives for $1,000 per life saved, so that’s just kind of a reason to be like saying, ‘Don’t go to Mars.'”

According to reports, the artificial intelligence writing and chatting tool ChatGPT recently on the Internet is a hot mess, which sparked the attention of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Bill Gates said that the emergence of this artificial intelligence technology is as historically significant as the birth of the Internet and the personal computer.

Gates said that in 2023, artificial intelligence will be the most talked about hot plate, a phenomenon that he personally believes makes perfect sense.

According to Gates, the emergence of new artificial intelligence technologies, including chatbots, is as important as the emergence of the personal computer and the Internet.

In the 1980s, mankind began to enter the era of the personal computer, and Gates played a very important role. Before Microsoft and Apple started to enter the personal computer market, computers were still only luxury products that could only be used by large corporations, government agencies and universities, and were considered by the outside world to be high-tech equipment and not for ordinary consumers.

In Gates’ view, AI technology is no less important than personal computers in terms of the impact it has on society.

ChatGPT, an AI writing and chat tool that has recently exploded in popularity collects data from millions of websites around the world and is able to answer users’ questions or write articles in a clear, conversational manner. This tool is useful for article writing, software coding and more, demonstrating the power of AI chatbots to the public. This technology will also have a huge impact on the global workforce.

Of course, ChatGPT’s technology is not perfect, and sometimes the chatbot is unable to identify false information and often gives wrong answers.

A recent UBS research report noted that the ChatGPT website has set a new world record in terms of user size growth. According to the report, ChatGPT’s monthly active user base grew to 100 million in January of this year, just two months after the site went live. Its user growth is already faster than that of global short-form video juggernaut TikTok.

ChatGPT’s developer is OpenAI, which focuses on artificial intelligence technology, and in 2019, Microsoft had invested $1 billion in the company. This investment partnership also gave Microsoft exclusive access to certain exclusive technology licenses from each other.

In January, Microsoft announced that it would be making a “multi-year, multi-billion dollar investment” in OpenAI. A leading U.S. financial media outlet reported that Microsoft’s investment could be $10 billion this time around.

ChatGPT stood out, and it wasn’t just Gates who took notice. Late last year, Google sent out an “alert message” about the novel product. On November 30 of last year, when the latest version of ChatGPT went live in service, Google realized that the AI chat product would pose a threat to Google’s core search engine, according to a leading U.S. media report, and it subsequently held several meetings to discuss strategies for Google’s AI business, with Google CEO Pichai and executives from parent company Alphabet in attendance.

To deal with the emergency, Google management reportedly even invited Google’s two co-founders (Page and Brin) to discuss countermeasures together.

A U.S. tech media outlet reported that Microsoft plans to use the technology behind ChatGPT to power its own search engine, Bing.

Historically, Gates has not been a big fan of the OpenAI company. When Microsoft first decided to invest in OpenAI, Gates reportedly even questioned the company’s technology prospects.

The source said that before Microsoft made the investment decision, Gates studied OpenAI’s artificial intelligence technology very carefully, and his concern was whether the artificial intelligence could really understand the content of human language communication based on a high degree of “context”.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates loves to read so much that he is known to read about 50 books a year, the equivalent of one a week. Every year, on his Gates Notes blog, he shares some of the best books he’s read in the past 12 months. This year, he decided to list the five best books he’s ever read. He notes that this is not a complete list of his favorite books, but he recommends them to friends and family.

The first book on the list is Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. Gates described the book as the best introduction to adult sci-fi, explaining why he loves it by saying, “Paul Allen and I fell in love with Heinlein when we were kids. This book is still one of my favorite sci-fi books. It tells the story of a young man who grows up on Mars and returns to Earth to start a new faith. I think the best sci-fi pushes you to think about what the future might be Reflecting on what happened, Heinlein managed to predict the rise of hippie culture years before it emerged.”

The next book is U2 frontman Bono’s new book Surrender. The book, which he describes as the best memoir of a rock star, is one of the newer titles on the list. Gates wrote: “This book came out this month, so it’s one of the last reads on my list. If you’re a U2 fan, there’s a good chance you’re already planning to check it out. Even if You’re not, it’s also a super interesting book about how a boy from the suburbs of Dublin grew up to be a world-famous rock star and philanthropist. Luckily I’m friends with Bono, but a lot of the stories he tells in “Surrender” It’s new to me.”

Next came Doris Kearns Goodwin’s “Lincoln and Team of Rivals,” described by Gates as the best guide to leading the country. He said: “I can’t read enough about Abraham Lincoln, and this is one of the best books on the subject. It feels like a time when our nation is once again facing violent insurrection, hard questions about race and deep ideological divisions. This book is especially meaningful. Goodwin is one of the best biographers in America, and Lincoln and His Rival Staff is arguably her magnum opus.”

The fourth book on the list is the best book Gates has ever read about getting out of his own way. It’s called “The Inner Game of Tennis” by Robert Gale. Victoria (Robert Gallwey). Explaining why he liked the book, Gates wrote: “This 1974 book is a must-read for anyone who plays tennis, but I think even people who have never played tennis will find it helpful.” Get something. Gallwey believes that your mind is as important as your physical fitness, maybe even more important. He gives great advice on how to move on constructively from your mistakes, something I have worked on over the years on and off the field Follow these recommendations.”

The last book on the list is the best book on the periodic table, according to Gates. Gates describes Mendeleyev’s Dream by Paul Strathern as follows: “The history of chemistry is full of men like Dimitri Mendeleyev. Oddities like Dimitri Mendeleyev, the Russian scientist who first came up with the periodic table, is said to have seen it in a dream. Strathern’s book traces this history all the way back to its origins in ancient Greece. A fascinating look at how it developed and how human curiosity has evolved over millennia.”
