According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to insert relevant advertising links in the podcast application for narrative podcasts that have attracted high attention.

It is learned from reports that Apple has found a season sponsor for the second season of “After the Whistle”, a football-themed narrative podcast that has not included any ads since its launch.

Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to sell advertising space for original podcast programs such as “The Line,” “Hooked and Run,” “Bambi” and “Run.”

The Apple Podcasts app currently makes money mainly through subscription commissions. When users purchase and subscribe to certain blog programs, Apple will take a certain percentage of the subscription fees paid. The latest advertising method will bring new profit income to Apple.

Apple has adjusted the user interface of the Podcasts app in the recently released iOS / iPadOS 17 Developer Preview update, making it look more modern and the interaction experience smoother.

The “Now Playing” screen no longer has a white or gray background, but instead resembles Apple Music design elements with a blur effect and improved volume and playback progress controls.

Apple has also tweaked the chapter listings for podcast shows to show exactly how much time is left until the next show and the length of each episode.

Shows display images of each episode at the top of the Now Playing screen, with the podcast illustration displayed at a smaller size directly below, followed by the title.

Apple has also adjusted the Listen Now tab so that each podcast show card is the same color as the cover, and users can now filter search results by popular results, shows, episodes and channels.

Apple announced a new policy that will have a big impact on podcast creators. Apple said Apple Podcasts creators will be able to publish subscription content directly on the hosting provider’s platform starting today. Apple said the new policy makes it easier for creators to launch and add shows and subscriptions on Apple Podcasts.

Apple is launching Delegated Delivery in May 2022. People with active Apple Podcast Program memberships can now generate API keys through the Apple Podcast Connect platform. These API keys can be shared with hosting providers so they can publish podcasts on your behalf.

As detailed by Apple, there are currently four different hosting providers that support Apple Podcasts subscriptions. They are

Blubrry

Libsyn

Omny Studio

RSS.com

The company says more providers, including Acast and ART19, will support Apple Podcasts subscriptions later this year, and Apple has created a special page on its website that shows which providers support Podcasts subscriptions. Some creators were invited by their participating hosting providers to try out the new feature last month.

“The automated process makes it incredibly easy for podcasters to publish their premium shows and episodes to Apple Podcasts as part of their standard publishing process,” said Todd Cochrane, CEO of Blubrry Podcasting.

“We look forward to building on our partnership with Apple to simplify podcast publishing for Libsyn’s 75,000+ podcasters,” added John W. Gibbons, President of Libsyn.

Apple announced today that it will launch an online event for Chinese podcast creators to help them learn about Apple’s podcast services.

Apple’s Online Event for Podcast Creators

Apple will hold a quick start online briefing on Apple Podcasts on Friday, December 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is specifically for Chinese creators and will be held in Beijing. The event will be held exclusively for Chinese creators and will be hosted by the Apple Podcast team to introduce the key features of Apple Podcasts, how to get recommendations, the latest features, and opportunities that may be available.

Apple has previously introduced podcasts to the public by sharing tips on how to use the devices and inviting podcast creators to its Today at Apple series of classes in retail stores. Podcasts have also been introduced as a marketing tool in the Today at Apple series for small businesses.

In addition to online events for podcast creators, Apple has hosted several online events for developers in recent years to help developers better understand how to use tools to promote their work and to meet face-to-face with Apple engineers to share their questions. This online event for podcast creators is also a further expansion of Apple’s content ecosystem creation.

As a media format that has emerged in recent years, and as part of Apple’s own services, podcasting will help creators create more quality content within Apple’s ecosystem and generate further revenue. Podcasts are also easier to develop than apps and will allow more people to participate in their creation and share their ideas through Apple’s global platform.
