According to reports, this is an additional investment by Google on the basis of its earlier investment in the company, and it also adds fuel to the competition among AI startups trying to achieve “the next big breakthrough” in the field. “.

People familiar with the matter revealed that Google has invested $500 million in Anthropic upfront and agreed to add an additional $1.5 billion over time. Google’s investment follows Amazon’s commitment last month to invest $4 billion in the company.

Note: Anthropic was founded in 2021 by a former OpenAI engineer. It owns the chat robot Claude and is regarded as a strong rival of ChatGPT developer OpenAI. Five years ago, OpenAI made an offer to cooperate with Amazon, but was rejected. Later, OpenAI switched to Microsoft, leading Microsoft to lead the current wave of generative AI.

In an effort to catch up, Amazon last week invested heavily in OpenAI’s top rival, Anthropic. Under the deal, Amazon will invest $4 billion in Anthropic to compete with rivals such as Microsoft and Google in the AI field.

The new features of Claude 2 are said to be enhanced in the following ways:

Programming, math, and reasoning have improved over its predecessor: it scored 76.5% correct on the multiple-choice portion of the U.S. Bar Exam, compared to 70% on its predecessor, Claude 1.3; Claude 2 scored over 90% of recent graduates on the GRE reading and writing tests; and on the U.S. Physician's License Exam, it scored over 60% on all three subjects, which means that it scored over 60% on all three subjects. On the U.S. Physician's License Exam, Claude 2 scored over 60% in all 3 subjects, which is an "ALL PASS".

The length of input and output has increased significantly: users can now enter up to 100,000 tokens per prompt, meaning they can read hundreds of pages at a time. At the same time, Claude 2 can do all kinds of text work with thousands of tokens, such as writing memos, letters, and even stories.

It’s worth noting that Claude supports Chinese, and Claude 2 also opens up the model to organizations through an API.

Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, announced today that it has received up to US$4 billion in cash from Amazon. The two parties will jointly develop reliable and high-performance basic models. , carry out broader cooperation.

According to reports, Amazon employees and cloud computing customers can gain early access to Anthropic’s technology and integrate it into their own businesses. Anthropic has also pledged to rely primarily on Amazon’s cloud services to train its large future AI models – including leveraging large quantities of proprietary chips purchased from Amazon.

Anthropic will leverage high-performance, low-cost learning accelerators provided by Amazon Cloud Services to train and deploy its future base models on AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips. For Amazon, the deal marks its latest move to capitalize on the excitement surrounding generative AI.

Based on the large demand from Amazon cloud service users for Anthropic’s large language model Claude, Anthropic will also expand support for AWS Bedrock. This will include secure model customization and fine-tuning on the service, allowing businesses to leverage their expertise to optimize Claude’s performance while limiting the potential for harmful outcomes.

In terms of details, Amazon will make an initial investment of US$1.25 billion to acquire a minority stake in Anthropic, and both companies will have the option to increase the total investment to US$4 billion in the future.

Earlier this year, Anthropic raised funding valuing it at nearly $5 billion. Last year, Google invested $300 million in Anthropic.

Anthropic recently released a blog post, officially launched Claude Instant 1.2 AI model, and has provided API access to enterprises.

Anthropic says the Claude Instant 1.2 AI model is more powerful, less expensive and more secure than previous versions.

In terms of performance, the Claude Instant 1.2 AI model can handle up to 100,000 tokens, meaning it can process hundreds of pages of content at once, and output memos, letters, stories, and other text content containing thousands of tokens at once.

Anthropic says Claude Instant 1.2 generates responses that are longer, more structured, and follow formatting instructions better, with improved quote extraction, multilingual capabilities, question answering, and more.

The biggest highlights of Claude Instant 1.2 are a new top evaluation score for the Claude model, further improved security, reduced illusions, and greater resistance to jailbreaking.

Note: Illusion is when a model generates incorrect or meaningless text, and jailbreaking is a technique for bypassing security features set on large language models. For more information on the Claude Instant 1.2 AI model, you can visit here.

According to foreign media reports, on Tuesday Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in San Francisco, announced that it had received US$450 million in Series C financing.

The round was led by Spark Capital, with participation from Google, Salesforce Ventures, Sound Ventures, Zoom Ventures, and others. Before this round of financing, Google invested 300 million to 400 million US dollars in Anthropic.

The latest round of funding brings Anthropic’s total funding to nearly $1 billion, making it one of the best-funded artificial intelligence startups, the report said. The company did not disclose its valuation, but sources put it at close to $5 billion.

Anthropic says the new funding will support its continued development of useful, harmless and honest AI systems, including Claude, an AI assistant that can perform a variety of conversational and text-processing tasks.

Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI executives, is currently competing with OpenAI, the developer behind the chatbot ChatGPT, and its Claude model is seen as the main competitor to OpenAI’s GPT-4.
