Yesterday, the winners of the 40th Annual Golden Joystick Awards were announced, with Game of the Year and four other awards for software, and Valve’s Steam Deck taking home the Best Hardware Award. He said he was honored by the win and thanked the Steam Deck community.
On behalf of everyone at Valve, I’d like to thank you for awarding Steam Deck the Golden Joystick Award for best gaming hardware,” said G Fat. On my own PC, the components come from a variety of manufacturers, including AMD CPUs, NVIDIA graphics cards, Corsair mice, Logitech keyboards and Samsung monitors …… It’s this interoperability, compatibility and openness that really makes products like Steam Deck what they are.”
G Fat went on to mention Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida’s acceptance speech at last year’s Golden Joystick Awards, stating, “I listened to Naoki Yoshida’s Golden Joystick acceptance speech last year and was shocked by his emphasis on the gaming community, and I would love to echo him that products like Steam Deck would not be possible without the gaming community behind us driving the entire industry. Beyond that, I really wanted to accept this award on behalf of the gaming community.”
