Steam Deck handhelds get pushed with SteamOS 3.5 preview update

SteamDeck handheld official this morning on the X platform (formerly Twitter) announced in a post, now for the preview channel to push the SteamOS 3.5 version of the update.

The summary of the updated content is as follows:

The update offers improved default color rendering for the Steam Deck, new display color settings, automatic mounting of external drives, and a host of other feature improvements and fixes.

The update also brings a new graphics driver that will feature a number of performance and functionality improvements, which V says will optimize performance performance for Starry Night games.

Additionally, the update brings Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and HDR support for Steam Deck screens and supported displays, with HDR now enabled if the user has a compatible display, and VRR now enabled if they have a compatible USB-C adapter.

In terms of details, the update also improves the stability of the Bluetooth connection (especially when using multiple joysticks), improves the speed of resuming from sleep, and updates some of the desktop widgets.

The Steam Deck is a portable handheld developed by Valve that uses a Zen 2 architecture CPU and RDNA 2 architecture GPU; the chip code name is “Aerith.” The device comes with Steam OS, supports Linux installations, and will be available on February 25, 2022 for a starting price of $399 USD.
