For comparison, Windows 11 had a 23.17% share in August and a 23.66% share in July. As you can see from the line in the chart, since April when the share of Windows 11 systems exceeded 23% for the first time, the share of Windows 11 systems has basically been stagnant in the following months.

The operating system with the largest share of PC users is still Windows 10, which has maintained a market share of over 71% since April. In September, Windows 10 still had 71.62% of the market share.

The third largest operating system is Windows 7, which had a 3.33% share in September this year; the share of Windows 8/8.1/XP continued to rank below 1%.

Microsoft announced in an announcement late last month that it was closing the channel for free upgrades from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 11 and 10. This means that users will no longer be able to use their Windows 7/8 product key to activate Windows 10/11 during the installation process.
