Sony’s FX30, which will be released in September, will be Sony’s first APS-C FX cinema camera and will be more affordable than the current FX3 full-frame model, sources said.

Last year, Sony released its full-frame cinema camera FX3 with a suggested retail price of RMB 32,000 for a single camera.

The Sony FX3 features a full-frame, back-illuminated ExmorR CMOS image sensor with approximately 10.2 effective megapixels and the BIONZ XR image processor, and supports 4.2K 16Bit Raw external recording and 10Bit 4:2:2 mode for all internal optional recording formats.

The Sony FX3 S-Cinetone image profile uses the same color science as CineAltaV, FX9 and FX6, and supports 4K 120p recording. The Sony FX3 has built-in 5-axis stabilization and “enhanced mode” image stabilization, while the gyroscope records shake metadata and can be used with Sony’s native software for shake stabilization and handheld shooting. Officially, the Sony FX3 uses an efficient cooling system with a built-in cooling fan for long and stable 4K 60p video recording.
