Sony announced on the PlayStation blog new information and images of its accessibility controller, the controller is now confirmed to be named Access controller (Access controller), designed to help disabled players more easily and comfortably play the game, the controller in January this year under the name Project The controller was released in January under the name Project Leonardo.
According to the introduction, the Access controller is a highly customizable controller kit with “a variety of interchangeable buttons and joystick caps” that gives players “the freedom to create different layouts to suit their strength, range of motion and physical needs “. The controller can be used on a flat surface, rotated 360 degrees, or fixed to an AMPS stand or tripod. Sony says the following accessories will be included with each Access controller:
- Rocker caps (standard, dome and spherical rocker caps)
- Button caps of different shapes and sizes, including
-Pillow-style button caps
-Flat button caps
-Wide flat button caps (covers both buttons)
-Overhanging button caps (for players with small hands, as they are close to the center of the controller)
-Curved button caps (can be pressed or pulled, depending on whether they are placed above or below the controller)
- Interchangeable button labels for players to easily mark the input corresponding to each button
The controller also has four 3.5mm AUX ports that allow players to add their own specialized axes, buttons or joysticks. It also has a full customization interface for button mapping and control configuration on PS5 hardware. Up to two Access controllers and a DualSense controller can be paired together to act as a virtual controller, allowing players to mix and match devices for greater comfort or to play single-player games with others. It also has a “toggle mode” that allows players to press a button and keep it permanently pressed, similar to the Caps Lock key. This is useful for players who find it difficult to hold down a button for long periods of time, such as accelerating in a racing game.
