Sony updates its existing PS5 gaming console with a 6nm AMD Oberon Plus chip

The previous Sony PlayStation 4 was launched in two different variants; slim and pro. As of now, the brand seems to have no plan to launch the existing PlayStation 5 game console in different variants. However, this does not mean that the brand will not update the PlayStation 5. It seems that the brand has already released an updated version of the PS5 on the market.

Updated version of PlayStation 5 released; What’s new?

The brand-new CFI-1202 that was discovered in Australia had just recently begun shipping from the Japanese tech titan. In a recent video, well-known YouTuber Austin Evans disassembled the console. According to this video, the most recent model is significantly lighter than the PS5 models that were initially offered. In addition to being lighter than the original PS5 model, the new console from the manufacturer also ran cooler and used less power.

According to the report shared by WccFTech, the differences don’t stop there, as the Oberon Plus chip, an improved AMD Ober processor, is also said to be included in the new PlayStation 5 CFI-1202. This SoC was created using TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process. The 6nm chip makes the console run cooler, and it even has a smaller heatsink, making it lighter than the PS5 models at launch.

Around the third year of a new generation, Sony usually releases updated models of its consoles. We can anticipate the release of a new PS5 Slim and possibly a PS5 Pro version in the coming months since we are still in the second year. However, the business hasn’t yet made any announcements about this issue.
