According to Bloomberg, Sony Interactive Entertainment SIE will lose its longtime PlayStation hardware architect Masayasu Ito, who will retire at the end of this month.

Sony told Bloomberg on Tuesday that Masayasu Ito, 60, executive vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the unit responsible for PlayStation and Sony’s other gaming initiatives, will leave the company on Oct. 1. In addition, Sony’s personnel changes announcement also confirmed the news.

Public information shows that Masayasu Ito joined Sony in 1986, first developing audio equipment for cars, and then transferred to the game console division in 2000. During his tenure in the PlayStation division, he presided over the development of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, which also gave birth to the PlayStation 4 Pro.
