Sony PS4 console gets version 11.00 update, adds swipe-to-login feature

Following yesterday for the PlayStation 5 host push update, Sony also for the PlayStation 4 brought version number 11.00 software update.

with this update content is as follows:

  • No password is now required to log in to the PS4 console using the PS App. Players can log in by scanning a QR code on their mobile device, just like the PS5. Push notifications on the PS App are also available for certain authentication operations.
  • Players can now see emoji responses to messages.
  • Improved messaging and usability on some screens.

The last update, reportedly version number 10.50 and pushed out in March of this year, enabled players to access licensed Apps in Settings while adding support for Unicode 15.0 emojis.

Sony’s PS5 also received a new software update yesterday that includes all of the new features previously available in the beta system, including new accessibility features, Dolby Atmos support, a new way to play multiplayer sessions, increased M.2SSD expansion support up to 8TB, and a number of new features in the official version, such as support for PS Remote Play on Android devices, a new Voice Command option (U.S. and U.K. only), and new PS app enhancements, and more.
