Sony Music Entertainment (SME) has announced that SME has completed the acquisition of all of Bob Dylan’s recorded tracks and the distribution rights to several future works.

Bob Dylan and SME will continue their collaboration with the re-release of his acclaimed and best-selling Bootleg Series in January of this year, which began in 1991 with 14 albums, including the popular Springtime In New York: The Bootleg Series Vol. 16 (1980-1985), released in 2021. 16 (1980-1985). Following the agreement, SMEs were also given the opportunity to work with Bob Dylan on other projects.
The year 2022 marks the 60th anniversary of Bob Dylan’s extraordinary career as a singer, and in October 1961 he was signed by John Hammond of SME’s Columbia Records, who recorded his debut album that same year. His Bob Dylan album marked the beginning of an unparalleled musical journey by a master musician who continues to have a profound impact on global culture.
Bob Dylan is one of the most influential and groundbreaking artists of his time. In 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature by the Swedish Academy, becoming the first songwriter to receive the award, which the jury considered “a new poetic context within the great American folk tradition. The jury found that he had “created a new poetic context within the great American folk tradition”.
