Sony introduces in-camera photo security technology for Alpha 7 IV cameras

0

Sony has now announced its in-camera photo anti-counterfeiting technology for enterprise business users, according to Sony officials. Photos will be digitally signed when they are taken, and Sony’s technology can detect any modifications to the image, thus protecting it from fraudulent use.

The technology will be enabled on the Alpha 7 IV camera and will later be opened up to other models.

According to the report, Sony has developed standard cryptography-based anti-counterfeiting technology for corporate users to protect images from fraudulent use. When Sony’s in-camera signature mode is activated, the camera processor cryptographically signs the image as soon as it is taken. The technology is particularly suitable for passport and ID card verification, but also for image verification in media, healthcare, law enforcement, insurance and construction.

The Alpha 7 IV has 15 levels of dynamic range at low sensitivities for a wider range of light and shadow levels. The Alpha 7 IV is currently priced at $16,999 by Sony.
