Sony executives hinted at a new version of PS5, 2023 will be a very important year

Sony PlayStation 5 has been released for more than two years, although it seems nothing different in appearance, in fact, every year there will be a small revision of the model, mainly to optimize the internal thermal design and reduce the weight of the body.

Now, the situation is becoming clearer and the sales of the console are stabilizing. Some rumors about the upgraded PlayStation 5 (Pro) are also surfacing.

While the PS5 was expected to deliver a native 8K@120fps gaming experience before its release, in reality even 4K@60fps is hard to guarantee, especially with ray tracing turned on, and so far only a few games have been able to take full advantage of its current hardware.

By 2023, we may see a half-generation upgraded game console, which may not achieve a huge breakthrough in in-game performance, but it will certainly bring enough benefits for Sony.

In an interview with Famitsu, Sony’s senior vice president of platform experience Hideaki Nishino revealed that the PS5’s third year (the PS4 Pro was launched in the PS4’s third year of release), 2023, will be a “very important” year for the platform, though he “can’t talk about the details at this point he “can’t talk about specifics at this time,” except that he “hopes you can look forward to next year.”

From the previous news and predictions, the new PS5 upgrade model is expected to be launched in September or at the end of the year, and Sony plans to completely eliminate the current model before the Christmas holiday in 2023, by keeping only one model on the market to reduce production costs.
