Jim Ryan, president of Sony SIE, announced at CES 2023 that as of December 2022, sales of PlayStation 5 game consoles will exceed 30 million units, which is about 30 million more than the last sales figure released in November.

“From now on, everyone who wants a PS5 will have an easier time finding one at retailers around the world,” Jim Ryan, the company’s head of gaming, said during the CES showcase.

The Sony PlayStation 5 was launched in November 2020, and it was not until August 2022 that Sony announced that it was “almost easy to buy”. For most of a console’s lifecycle, getting one requires either being very lucky to get one on the spot or willing to pay scalpers or Best Buy a lot more than the console’s manufacturer retails for. Even in the recent past, the PS5 console has been dominated by $550 bundles that include a PS5 with an optical drive and a game, such as Horizon: Dead West or God of War: Ragnarok, but the price range varies considerably, as the digital console version is priced at $399.99.

In August last year, Sony SIE announced that it would increase the price of PS5 in many countries and regions. After the price increase of PS5 by the Bank of China, the CD-ROM version will be 4299 CNY, and the digital version will be 3499 CNY.
