Sony Announces Next Generation 4K HDR 3D / 2D Medical LCD Monitor

0

Sony is expanding its lineup of medical LCD monitors with two new models for users to choose from — the LMD-XH550TC (55 inches) and the LMD-XH320TC (32 inches). These two new models can be used in combination with surgical endoscopes, microscopes and surgical robots for precise visualization in operating rooms, surgical centers and training and educational environments. Featuring Sony’s own area dimming technology, both monitors improve visibility by adding control and precise reduction of highlight and dark details with detailed 4K resolution, HDR (wide dynamic range) and wide color gamut, and support for 3D and 2D displays. Combined with other powerful features such as improved image quality, high contrast ratio, reduced haloing of blood and tissue structures, upgraded advanced image multi enhancement, new compatible interface options and integration-friendly design, it becomes ideal for OR integration.

The new monitor screens feature Sony’s own zone dimming technology for high brightness (1,500 cd/m²: LMD-XH550TC, 1,750 cd/m²: LMD-XH320TC) and high contrast ratio (over 1,000,000:1) with fine 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and support for SD, 3D and HD enhancement. . HDR (Wide Dynamic Range) is achieved when receiving HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) signals from a compatible imaging system, and selecting HLG in the monitor Gamma setting mode improves visibility by increasing control and precise reduction of highlights and dark details. The new monitors’ advanced LCD panels and signal processing technology support highly consistent and accurate wide color gamut reproduction (supports ITU-R BT.2020).

In addition, both monitors dramatically reduce reflected glare for clear, high-contrast images in bright operating rooms, and the LMD-XH550TC and LMD-XH320TC enable HD and 4K 3D effects that enhance the levels, textures, depth of field, color representation and immersion of the displayed target — all of which are critical in a surgical setup. These are the key messages in the surgical setup. Both monitors also integrate upgraded A.I.M.E. (Advanced Image Multiple Enhancement) technology for enhanced structure, color, contrast and shadows.

The LMD-XH550TC and LMD-XH320TC can support multiple input interfaces including SDI (12G / 3G), DP, HDMI, DVI-D and AC/DC inputs (for LMD-XH320TC), making them ideal for operating room integration.

LMD-XH320TC Interface

The LMD-XH550TC and LMD-XH320TC can display 3D and 2D signals in HD and 4K. The LMD-XH550TC and LMD-XH320TC can display both 3D and 2D signals in HD and 4K. They support various display modes such as side-by-side, picture-in-picture (PIP), picture-out-picture (POP) or image flip 180 degrees. 3D picture-in-picture (PIP)/picture-out-picture (POP) multi-screen display options include dual-screen display for primary 3D/2D and secondary 2D screens, and triple-screen display for three 2D screens.

In addition, the monitor’s clone output feature allows users to reproduce the same picture from the primary monitor, such as A.I.M.E. or picture-in-picture (PIP), on a second monitor, which is useful during surgical training and classroom instruction so that users can easily record what they are watching. The resolution of the clone output can be selected as 4K or HD depending on the usage.

Both new model monitors feature a smooth surface with a streamlined rear design that allows users to easily wipe liquid and gel from the LCD panel, controls, and rear cover, ensuring a high standard of disinfection and cleanliness is implemented. It also features intuitive navigation and installation-friendly cable connections, as well as a foot switch remote control function that can be implemented via a small stereo jack for easy hands-free menu switching.

The LMD-XH550TC and LMD-XH320TC are scheduled to be available on November 23, 2022.
