Sony admits that the elite version of the DualSense Edge controller has “modest reduction” in battery life

Sony announced in August this year the DualSense Edge handle, which is a handle product against the Microsoft Xbox Elite series. The DualSense Edge grip is currently listed in China, with a debut price of 1,599 yuan. Sony recently confirmed in an official statement that this DualSense Edge handle is shorter than the original DualSense handle for PlayStation 5.

Foreign technology media The Verge discovered this when reviewing the DualSense Edge handle, and then Sony confirmed to the media in an official statement that the new handle’s battery life will be “moderately shortened”. Sony said in the statement.

"The DualSense Edge wireless controller has a slightly shorter battery life than the original DualSense wireless controller. That's because we've packed more features into the same form factor and ergonomics as the original DualSense. We want to better balance wireless battery life and provide strong high-performance features.

In addition, the longer braided USB cable is also ideal for competitive gamers who prefer to game with a wired connection to avoid wireless interference, an option that provides longer battery life."

As you can see from the statement above, Sony is trying to downplay concerns that gamepads need to be recharged frequently. It’s disappointing, though, that the more advanced PlayStation controllers don’t come with more powerful batteries, especially since the PS5’s DualSense controller’s battery life has shrunk compared to the PS4’s DualShock 4.
