Some Google Pixel Buds Pro wireless earbuds have the ‘Hey Google’ feature disabled

0

On, October 24 – Google has recently released some new Pixel products, and some problems have come to light. Some users of the Pixel Buds Pro wireless headphones have found that the “Hey Google” feature is not working due to an assistant language error bug.

Some users have been prompted with a warning that “Hey Google” is disabled after connecting the Pixel Buds Pro headphones. Google says that “voice matching is disabled because the device does not currently support the selected Assistant language”. The suggested solution is to “select a supported language in the Assistant language settings” and provides a link to these preferences.

Hotword detection continues to work on their other Pixel (phone and watch) devices.

The Google Assistant on Pixel Buds Pro still works with “touch and press” gestures, but this may result in active noise control not being available on at least one headset. This can be set up by navigating to the Pixel Buds app > Touch Control > Custom Touch and Hold.

Many Pixel Buds Pro users are affected. Some users have cited recent Google Apps updates as a contributing factor to the bug and hope that this can be resolved with a server-side update.
