The App Store has paid a cumulative $320 billion (about 2.17 trillion yuan) to developers since its launch in 2008, Apple said in its latest fiscal quarter report yesterday. In 2022 alone, Apple will pay $60 billion (about 406.8 billion yuan) to developers, essentially the same as last year.

Because of the game “Fortress Night”, Apple and Epic Games are fighting in court over the 30% platform commission, which also allows Apple to adjust the commission ratio according to the scale of the application, between 15% and 30%.

Apple’s senior executive Eddy Cue said in Apple’s annual report that the App Store currently receives about 650 million visitors per week in 175 regions. “Subscriptions on the App Store drive a significant portion of the more than 900 million paid subscriptions for Apple services, reflecting how apps provide users with ongoing services in everything from productivity to entertainment to social connection,” Cue added.
