The complete model nomenclature of the original IronWolf Pro series products adopts the format of ST20000 NE 000 (20TB), and NE after representing the brand and capacity has been changed to NT (such as ST20000 NT 001).
From the perspective of parameters, the new version is mainly different in terms of life expectancy. For example, the mean time to failure (MTBF) has been increased from 1.2 million hours to 2.5 million hours, and the workload rate limit (WRL) has also been increased to 550TB/year (the old version 300TB/year).
In fact, not only that, except that the maximum continuous transmission rate marked by 20TB is maintained at 285MB/s, the rest of the capacity versions have increased by 6-30MB/s, and the earthquake resistance of the 18TB version has also changed, but this part of the specification is not easy to quantify In contrast.
Finally, Seagate changed the recommended number of storage devices such as RAID from “no more than 24bay” to “unlimited”. However, Seagate has not changed its product lineup, and still maintains an optional capacity of 2 to 20TB, providing a 5-year limited warranty and 3-year data recovery service, and the pricing is completely unchanged.
