According to foreign media reports, the actual controller of Samsung Group and the executive chairman of Samsung Electronics are expected to meet Peter Rawlinson, CEO of electric car manufacturer Lucid, to discuss related cooperation matters during his trip to the United States next month.

Judging from foreign media reports, Lee Jae-yong will go to the United States with relevant personnel from South Korea on the 26th of next month, and business people from South Korea and the United States are expected to hold a roundtable meeting. During the meeting, Lee is expected to meet with Lucid executives, possibly CEO Peter Rawlinson.

Many companies under Samsung have been involved in the automotive business, including batteries and electronic components in electric vehicles. However, judging from the information mentioned in foreign media reports, during the meeting between Lee Jae-yong and Lucid executives, Only battery supply is expected to be discussed, and they are procuring batteries from Samsung SDI and LG New Energy.

Lucid is an upstart automaker headquartered in Newark, California. Founded in 2007, their electric cars are designed in California and assembled at a factory in Arizona. Lucid focuses on luxury electric vehicles. The Air electric car launched by Lucid starts at $87,400, but its performance is also relatively strong. The cruising range is as low as 410 miles and as high as 516 miles, which is a minimum of 659 kilometers and a maximum of 830 kilometers.

It is worth noting that the largest shareholder of Lucid is the Saudi Public Investment Fund. The Saudi side had previously discussed building a battery factory with Samsung in Saudi Arabia, but failed to build it due to some twists and turns encountered by Lee Jae-yong himself. If Samsung SDI can reach a cooperation with Lucid, it may help to promote cooperation between Samsung and Saudi Arabia.
