Samsung’s Odyssey line of high-end gaming monitors is widely regarded as one of the best in the industry, and Samsung aims to take its next-generation monitor lineup to the next level at CES 2023.

Today, Samsung announced that it will unveil two new gaming monitors during the CES 2023 event as part of its Odyssey lineup: the Odyssey Neo G9 and the Odyssey OLED G9. In addition, the company shared details about the new ViewFinity S9 and the latest smart monitor, the M8.

Odyssey Neo G9
The new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is the world’s first dual UHD resolution (7680 x 2160, “dual 4K”) monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. the monitor has a massive 1000R curved 57-inch panel with quantum mini LED technology and features VESA Display HDR 1000 certification for superior image reproduction even in the most challenging gaming environments.

The new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9’s display has a matte coating to reduce glare and also supports a peak refresh rate of 240Hz. And the Odyssey Neo G9 is the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1-enabled display, capable of transferring data at approximately twice the speed of DisplayPort 1.4 and delivering information without distortion with lossless industry-standard display stream compression (DSC).

With so many significant upgrades, the new Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 won’t be cheap, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed pricing or launch details.

Odyssey OLED G9
As the name implies, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is an updated version of the original G9, switching to a sharp OLED panel with deep blacks and near-infinite color contrast. Featuring a curved 1800R 49-inch panel with a quad-HD resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio, the monitor uses Quantum Dot Technology OLED for pixel-perfect color contrast.

Samsung says the OLED display on the Odyssey OLED G9 illuminates each pixel separately and does not rely on a backlight, enabling a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 while delivering true RGB and true black without the need for a color filter. Despite the OLED panel, the display boasts a 0.1ms response time for smooth gameplay and a 240Hz refresh rate.

In addition, the Odyssey OLED G9 provides access to various OTT platforms such as Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube via the Smart Hub, and also features Samsung’s Gaming Hub, enabling gamers to access cloud gaming platforms such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. As with the new Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung has yet to share complete details about the Odyssey OLED G9.

ViewFinity S9
Samsung’s display lineup at CES 2023 isn’t all about gaming. The company also has something new for creators in the form of the new ViewFinity S9, a 27-inch 5K resolution display that covers 99 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut with an average Delta E of ≦2 for accurate color reproduction.

The ViewFinity S9 also comes with a built-in color calibration engine to ensure accurate screen color and brightness, allowing professionals to adjust white balance, gamma and RGB color balance for perfect accuracy via smartphone using the Samsung Smart Calibration app.

The monitor also features USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports to help professionals connect cameras and other devices to the monitor to quickly transfer high-resolution video or other files to their PCs. it also features a 4K SlimFit camera and supports local video conferencing via Google Meet and other apps included in the Samsung Smart Hub.

In addition to these three displays, Samsung will also introduce a new 27-inch version of the Smart Display M8 at CES 2023, with the 27-inch model featuring an upgraded 2K SlimFit camera, which is not available on the 32-inch model.
