Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy S23 series of flagship phones in the early hours of February 2, and more pricing details have emerged, this time for Samsung’s home market of South Korea. The leaked information suggests that the Galaxy S23 series will not be as expensive as previously rumored, but will be slightly more expensive than the Galaxy S22 series.

The leaked material suggests that the base Samsung Galaxy S23 with 256GB and 512GB of storage will cost 1.155 million won (currently around RMB 6,341, USD 931) and 1.276 million won (currently around RMB 7,005, USD 1029) respectively.

The Galaxy S23+ with 256GB and 512GB of storage will cost KRW 1.353 million (currently around Rmb 7428, USD 1091) and KRW 1.474 million (currently around Rmb 8092, USD 1189) respectively. The higher-end Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will cost KRW 1,599,400 for 256GB of storage (currently around Rmb 8,781, USD 1,290) and KRW 1,720,400 for 512GB of storage (currently around Rmb 9,445, USD 1,388).

For reference, when the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra were launched in Korea last year, they cost 999,900 KRW (currently around RMB 5489, USD 806), 1,199,000 KRW (currently around RMB 6,583, USD 967) and 1,452,000 KRW (currently around RMB 7,971, USD 1,171) respectively. The reality is that, given the current economic situation, it is not easy to find a way to pay for a new product.)

The reality is that almost everything has become more expensive in recent years given the current economic situation, the higher price of the Galaxy S23 series in South Korea is allegedly due to higher component costs and rising inflation.

However, even if the Samsung Galaxy S23 is priced higher than the S22 at launch, this price increase may not happen across the board. In markets including South Korea and Australia, the Galaxy S23 line-up is likely to be more expensive. However, leaked prices for the US market suggest that the upcoming flagship lineup will be priced the same as last year. In the US, the Galaxy S23 is expected to start at a price of USD 799 (currently around R5,417).
