According to foreign technology media SamNews24, industry experts believe that Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Micron are vigorously promoting the popularization of DDR5 memory in order to curb the downward trend of the semiconductor market.

DDR5 DRAM is the latest DRAM specification introduced by the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), which doubles the performance of DDR4 DRAM.

DDR4 DRAM currently accounts for the majority of the memory market. Industry insiders believe that by increasing the output of DDR5 memory and popularizing DDR5 memory, the replacement demand for DDR5 DRAM can be stimulated.

Data previously released by market research company OMDIA shows that DDR5 DRAM will account for 12% of the DRAM market this year, up from 3% in 2022. It is expected to grow to 27% by 2024, surpassing DDR4 (23%).
