Samsung “shrink” Galaxy S23 standard version configuration: UFS 3.1 flash memory, thicker bezel

According to foreign technology, media 9to5Google reported that Samsung in order to increase the gap between the Galaxy S23 standard version and Galaxy S23 +, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, will adjust the specifications of the standard version configuration. In addition, it will use UFS 3.1 flash memory, Samsung also plans to adjust the distinction in Wi-Fi, bezel thickness, vibration motor and charging.

The report states that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Standard Edition 128GB uses UFS 3.1 flash memory instead of UFS 4.0. The UFS 4.0 memory chip offers sequential data read speeds of up to 4200MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2800MB/s.

UFS 3.1 offers sequential read speeds of up to 2100MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1200MB/s. That means UFS 4.0 storage speeds are twice as fast as UFS 3.1. And storage speeds vary by capacity, with 128GB sequential write speeds of 850MB/s for the chip version.

Another important factor for the average consumer is fast charging, with the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra supporting 45W wired fast charging, while the Galaxy S23 standard version may only support 25W wired charging.

The report also points out that the bezel on the front of the Galaxy S23 Standard is thicker than the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra models.

Another noteworthy aspect is Wi-Fi, as the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra support Wi-Fi 7, while the Galaxy S23 Standard only supports Wi-Fi 6E, but this won’t have much of an impact on the average consumer, as there are very few scenarios where Wi-Fi 7 is supported. But in the future this may have some impact.
