According to a list published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) last Thursday, Samsung obtained a design patent to further explore new forms of smartphones.
The design patent drawings are as follows. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the display device, and Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the device in the unfolded state.
Samsung stated in the patent that the new form structural design is relatively simple, can prevent the rebound effect of the metal layer at the end of the sliding display device, alleviate the panel crack problem that occurs when the display panel is compressed into a curved shape, and has strong resistance. Shocking.
Samsung’s patent focuses solely on the display structure and never describes a rollable display device from a marketing or end-use perspective. Since Samsung has done a lot of work on rollable/scrollable smartphone devices, it’s clear that the patent only describes the mechanics of a smartphone based on a tiny slideable display.
