Samsung news source @UniverseIce today tweeted that Samsung’s new folding screen phone Galaxy Z Fold5 will use a water drop hinge, but the crease is much larger than the domestic folding screen phone, only 15% smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold4.
The domestic folding screen phones on the market are using waterdrop hinge technology, compared to the traditional hinge, the waterdrop hinge not only enables seamless folding of the screen, and provides a softer folding curve, thus alleviating the problem of screen creases and improving the user’s perception and experience.

In fact, Samsung obtained the patent of the “waterdrop hinge” as early as 2016, and it is not known why it has not been applied to its own folding screen products.
