Samsung Galaxy Watch could have a built-in projector in the future

According to the latest list published by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Samsung has been granted a patent [PDF] for technology regarding smartwatches. According to the patent, Samsung may implant a projector in its future Galaxy Watch series of watches.

Samsung writes in the description that “there is a projection display on the side of the watch that can display information in the area near that side.” In the official schematic provided, the time, heart rate, and other relevant information can be projected on the back of the hand.

The patent’s diagram also shows a set of lenses and LEDs arranged in two rows that can project images or content on the hand without distortion through the built-in projector on the Galaxy Watch. However, you may need to keep your wrist fully extended to display the image correctly.

The patent still requires Samsung to overcome a lot of technical difficulties if it wants to commercialize the device, and will you buy it if you think it is technically possible? Do you think this function is ribbed, or does it extend the use of the watch scene? Welcome to leave a message in the comment section.
