Samsung is holding a Unpacked event in a few hours, and the Internet is starting to fill up with more new information. In this article, we’re going to share with you a set of promotional images of the Galaxy Watch5 smartwatch from WinFuture’s Roland Quandt. It shows the design of the non-“Pro” Galaxy Watch5 smartwatch from various angles.
The images show the Galaxy Watch5 getting a little thicker and a slightly different overall design than its predecessor. Earlier reports suggested that it would come with a comparable processor, similar size, and a slightly increased battery capacity.
But what we’re most excited about is the fact that Samsung is using sapphire glass for the Galaxy Watch5 — the image shows the words “Sapphire Crystal” printed on the bottom of the watch.
It’s important to note that sapphire isn’t essentially glass. It’s transparent like glass, but has a higher scratch resistance.
It was previously thought that only the higher-end Galaxy Watch5 Pro would be made of sapphire.
But Apple has been using it for years on its stainless steel / titanium versions of the Apple Watch.
For the more affordable models, Apple Watch is still using the Gorilla Glass-like “IonX” material.
But if Samsung puts sapphire on the regular Galaxy Watch5, its pricing may also go up slightly.
