Samsung Galaxy S23 / Ultra to support Google Quick Pair feature

According to a new report from 9to5google, the latest update to Google’s Quick Pair service contains new code that refers to setting up new phones, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S23 series phones.

Google Quick Pairing is a service that makes it easy to pair things like Pixel Buds headphones or any WearOS smartwatch (like the Pixel Watch) to any Android phone, but this update apparently includes the following.

"Setting up the Galaxy S23 Ultra

First, you will scan the QR code displayed on the new device"

This suggests that when placing an Android phone near a device that has not yet been set up, it will prompt in a similar way to a headset or watch, but this will not directly replace any proprietary apps, such as the Samsung Smart Switch, for example, and will prompt users to download those apps to simplify the process.

The above suggests that this new quick pairing feature will support the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of phones, which will be unveiled at Samsung’s annual Unpacked event on February 2.
