Samsung Galaxy S22 series sales are higher than last year’s Galaxy S21 series

On October 27, Samsung revealed during its third quarter 2022 earnings call that the Galaxy S22 series launched in the first half of the year has maintained solid sales momentum, with significant year-over-year revenue growth.

Samsung said the Galaxy S22 series brought in significantly more revenue than the Galaxy S21 series in the same period last year. That doesn’t mean the Galaxy S22 series sold more, though, and could also be due to the fact that the overall average purchase price has gotten higher and people are buying more high-end versions, including the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has switched to Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in more markets, and Samsung has also improved its software update policy this year, offering up to four major Android OS updates for all of its high-end phones and some of its mid-range phones, all factors that may have helped boost revenue for the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung Electronics reported a third-quarter net profit of 9.14 trillion won (about 46.34 billion yuan), down 24 percent year-over-year, and third-quarter sales of 76.78 trillion won (about 389.275 billion yuan), up 3.8 percent year-over-year.
