According to DigiTimes, Samsung Electronics recently conducted a survey of its global major customers’ semiconductor demand.

The results show that the storage inventory adjustment of customers in various fields is nearly complete, and the semiconductor industry will fully rebound in 2024. Samsung expects that there will be a shortage of DRAM and NAND Flash supply in some areas from 2024 onwards.

A Samsung executive mentioned that a large number of semiconductor companies have gradually completed inventory adjustments, and losses in the NAND business are expected to decrease significantly.

Securities industry sources said that considering the gradual stabilization of inventory, customers have begun to accept Samsung’s request for price increases; it is expected that from the fourth quarter onwards, the storage market supply and demand improvement and the trend of price increases will appear at the same time.

DigiTimes pointed out that as the Double Eleven promotion enters the warm-up phase, downstream manufacturers’ willingness to stock up increases, especially driven by the month-on-month increase in NAND Flash prices, SSD makers are beginning to prepare for replenishment, and the market is expected to return to the same period of performance in 2021.

Storage makers have finally seen the hope of recovery in the DRAM market after the longest decline cycle in history. According to TrendForce analysts, NAND flash prices will continue to rise in Q4, with an estimated increase of about 3 to 8%, up from the initial forecast of 0 to 5%.
