Samsung applies for Superfast mobile power trademark

Samsung has filed documents for the trademark “Samsung Superfast Portable Power”, which could indicate the imminent arrival of a new portable charging product for smartphones and other devices.

The trademark for Samsung Superfast Portable Power was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last week. According to the classification, the trademarked term can be used for “battery chargers for mobile devices; battery packs for mobile devices.”

The trademarks are usually designed to cover a wide range of possible uses, thus keeping the options open for companies in terms of product launches. For that particular term, it’s clear that Samsung may want to use it for a rechargeable battery or charger.

Perhaps “Superfast” here suggests that Samsung is about to embrace faster charging speeds. The company’s fastest charging speed for phones has remained at 45W, but its Chinese rivals have been applying 100W fast charging to more phones.
