According to Korean media ETNews report, Samsung and LG two top screen suppliers have begun to prepare for the production of an OLED screen, these screens will be equipped with Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro. The report calls the screen a “hybrid” panel that integrates the advantages of flexible and rigid OLED technology.

Ross Young, CEO of screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC, said Apple plans to launch new 13-inch MacBook Air, 11.1-inch iPad Pro and 13-inch iPad Pro models with OLED screens in 2024.

In addition, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also expects the first MacBook with an OLED display to be launched next year.

Young previously said that the new MacBook Air and iPad Pro models will use a “two-stack” OLED display with two red, green and blue emitting layers to increase screen brightness. He also said that all devices will support ProMotion, with refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Ultra is expected to switch to a microLED display in 2024, with Apple’s other products to follow a few years later. microLED will be Apple’s next display technology after OLED, offering higher contrast, higher brightness and lower power consumption.
