Samsung 990 Pro SSD Up to 2TB listed: the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSD to date

Samsung’s official website was informed that Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, 990 Pro With Heatsink (heatsink version) PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD has been listed on the official website, currently not announced the national price and listing time, only the offline sales channels announced.

According to the introduction, Samsung 990 Pro sequential read up to 7450MB/s, write speed of 6900MB/s, close to the theoretical value of PCIe4.0 (8000MB/s), random read and write speeds of 1400K and 1550K IOPS, respectively, compared to the 980 Pro, the former random read and write performance by 55%, which is also the fastest to date PCIe 4.0 SSDs.

Compared to other SSD brands’ flagship products pushing PCIe 5.0 with speeds of 10-14GB/s, the Samsung 990 Pro is a toothpaste upgrade, rejecting PCIe 5.0 and sticking to PCIe 4.0.

Core parameters, using Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC flash memory, the cache for Samsung 2GB (1GB) low-power DDR4 SDRAM, equipped with Samsung’s own master control, standby power consumption of up to 55mW (50mW), the average power consumption of 5.5W (5.4W), the maximum 8.5W (7.8W).

In terms of reliability, a 5-year warranty is provided, and 1TB corresponds to 600TBW, which translates to 0.33 full writes per day.

As for the price, the SSD 1TB $179, 2TB $309, will be on sale in October, 4TB to wait for next year’s sale, the country will also be on sale in November, currently only 1TB and 2TB version.
